#i #love them #so much #listen KHDFHJFD #they were so dysfunctional at points in their relationship but honestly after S11 they managed to get the swords they always threw at -#each other when they didn't KNOW how to handle their emotions as well (especially Eli) and they made a masterpiece out of it all #he wanted to get better first to impress clare but then he realized how toxic that was and how fucked up he had been towards clare #so instead he makes a promise to himself and his parents that he'll get better for his OWN happiness and i fucking Love That #eli goldsworthy is such a fucking statement and i love that and he's such an inspiration for anyone that wants to seek the help they deserve #he's an inspiration for anyone that wants to get better #and once he was FINALLY okay with himself #once he finally realized he could be his own person #that he was eli goldsworthy and his bipolar disorder wasn't him but just an extension of himself #that's when their relationship truly blossoms #and when they break up for literally like 2 weeks and A half in season 12 it's all because eli KNOWS he doesn't want clare to become his -#therapist. he knows he wants her to be his girlfriend #he wants her to be his s/o and not his shrink and that is so! important!#they didn't romanticize his illness and they made him break up with clare for her own good #and that is so so so important #no one should take on the doctor role in a romantic relationship no matter how much we want our s/o to feel better #and then they get back together and My god they are so in love with one another and their relationship just blossomed into an orchid-cacti -#hybrid.... listen it's so Good™#but then there was the long distance and it's normal for that to happen i know so many ppl that started dating in highschool but then hooked #up w/ others during college oof a mess #and tbh i'm glad clare gave him another chance even though she was kinda feeling like she was falling out of love (or well #more like she liked the attention drew gave her even though she just really wanted eli to give her all of those things)#clare really spent almost two entire seasons not wanting to hurt him at all and was so so so so selfless for eli and she just wants him to -#be happy because god damnit she knows how happy he makes her okay #and it's so good that eli got angry at her for having sex with drew and that's a normal reaction to it when he Only made Out with lenore #that's not even 'dysfunctional' that's a normal reaction
