“Thank you for coming over. It’s nice having you here.”
“Don’t thank me, I’m happy to be here,” Lingyang smiles, carefully inching his way back into his spot on your bed, so as to not disturb you.
Admittedly, you had been nervous when you called Lingyang over, not wanting to bear the thought of loneliness when you were in this much pain and sickness. Your friend was gone for the weekend and you were bedridden from the intensity of nausea you were currently experiencing. But when Lingyang had dropped everything to come to you immediately, bringing all your favorite things, some of the fog seemed to clear from your pounding mind, replaced with a sense of sweet fuzziness only love could produce. It was a good trade-off, Lingyang and you had only been together a few months but it was still so much more than any of your exes had ever done for you. You had a feeling he would do it a thousand times over, and that thought only made your love and admiration for him grow stronger. You snap out of your hazy flashbacks when you feel Lingyangs’s fingers brush down against your cheek.
“You okay?” he whispers, his fingers continuing their soft path of motion.
"yeah I'm ok now its just been a rough day" you leaned into his hand as his tail swayed behind him before resting on your leg
“Have you eaten anything yet today?”
“No,” You sigh, eyes turning to the plastic bags sitting on your nightstand, “Although I know what you’re hiding in there.”
He smiles at you, reaching over to grasp the stressed handles. You had been smelling your favorite take-out in those bags, and you were ready. You give a hum of approval as he sets the foam carton on your lap, carefully trying to balance it on your slightly turned legs.
“I have a bed tray, you know.” You say as Lingyang shoots his hand out to catch another carton slipping off your duvet.
“That’s the best news I’ve heard all week, I am NOT spilling my sauce today. Where is it?”
After he set up the tray and helped you move into a more comfortable position for eating, he finally unpaused the movie you both had started and you ate in your own agreeable silence, Despite your pain, you felt relaxed. Safe. Mentally you were okay despite your ailments, and that’s all you could ever want. All you could ever want a partner to make you feel.
Lingyang glanced at you confused, but did as he was told. You struggled to prop yourself up, shushing him when he opened his mouth in protest.
“Okay, listen. Just for a moment, You’re amazing. You’re wonderful and sweet and caring and I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend. You have shown more care for me than any of my other partners ever did and even when I feel like actual death, you can find a way to turn it around into one of the softest and most enjoyable days I’ve had in awhile. Even on good days, you make everything so much brighter and better! The way you hold me, kiss me, make me smile, you’re just so… you and I never want to give that up, ever. So I’m promising you right now that I’ll be here, as long as you’ll have me. On good days, on bad days, sick days and healthy days, I’ll be with you. I love your jokes and I love your passion for everything you do. You’re spectacular and you should be told that every waking moment. So, I promise forevermore I will keep showering you in love everyday, and if I ever don’t it will be the day the world stops spinning. I know this is new and overwhelming to you, but it’s all deserved. You deserve all the love in the world, and I can only attempt to give that to you. Today is just one example of how well you treat me, I promise to do the same to you.”
You gulp, staring at the tears pooling in Lingyang’s eyes and feeling the mist in your own. It takes a few minutes for him to choke back tears long enough to say something, but he finally does.
“Those sounded like marriage vows.”
You assumed he was trying to get you to laugh at that, to distract from how emotional he had gotten, but you didn’t give in.
“I’m going to marry you one day.”
He squeaks as his hands fly up to his face and you frown, wrapping an arm around his shoulders, despite the burning sensation.
You feel him nod as you nestle into the top of his head, placing a soft kiss there between his ears. You sat with him in silence again, slowly feeling the shake in his shoulders lessen as he sniffles and gives you a soft nudge to let you know he’s about to straighten up.
“You're to sweet, you know that? I’m the one who should be comforting you and making you feel better, not the other way around.”
“Just you being here makes me feel better, I wanted to let you know.” You lean in to kiss him, a kiss which he happily returns. You can feel the dampness of his skin and the excessive heat radiating off him, but it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters except him.
“Oh, I almost forgot!” He shouts out as he rummages through the other bag, you gazing at him fondly. A sound of triumph comes from him as he locates his prize, proudfully showing it to you. It’s a decently sized dog plush, with short cropped ‘fur’ and patches of brown against the white body. You give him a kiss on the cheek as you take it from him.
“I love you too. So much.” he replies, leaning in to give you another kiss on the lips, the dog pushing against his chest. You have a smirk when you pull away, and Lingyang looks at you with suspicion in his eyes.
“I should probably have told you sooner, but you bumped the tray to press down on my heating pad and I’m kind of getting burned right now.”
The color drains from his face, “Oh my God, I’m so sorry!”
“It’s fine, I promise. But I should probably fix it if I want to keep myself from turning baking to a crisp”
That got him to chuckle as he moved the tray off of you, and you smiled.
"lets get back to the movie" you cuddled back into him as his tail wrapped around your waist as he unpaused the movie.
