lifegoneby:
there was nothing like some antagonism and kat offered plenty of it — xander hadn’t yet decided on whether it was an annoyance or not. there were bigger things to worry about than a pissed bartender, he was sure. what with the news and all, there was a cloud hanging overhead and it demanded attention. all the more reason to get drunk.
“who would i be if i couldn’t annoy the fuck outta you?” xander drawled, swirling his drink before setting the glass down. “i’m well aware but nowhere quite has the same stand-offish ambiance needed for me to willingly spend my hard-earned money.”
perhaps she should’ve given up on persuading xander to stop his patronage because her job depended on customers and because it seemed that she was failing in her objectives. but kat wouldn’t be herself if she stopped beating the dead horse.
“charming.” accompanied with a light snort. she almost wished that she hadn’t come over to his table but on a dead night, even being annoyed was better than being bored. “call me crazy, but i tend to like it when people like me.”
