Lucio feels very protective over you at times that it overwhelms him
of course you’ve always known this, and it’s one of the reasons why you fell for him
but if you’re very independent and like to have things done your way, he hates to butt heads with you
and he tries to not seem so overbearing and all up in your space when you need to be alone, but his natural instinct is always to jump in front of you and shield you from any harm the world may throw your way
an arm draped around your shoulders or waist is his usual pose
eyes locking with yours across the wide room while you both mingle with boring guests
silently promising you that he’ll come find you and sweep you off your feet as soon as he finishes his duties
his glance turning ever so soft and a hint of a smile stays glued to his face
his fingers will find their way to intertwine with yours whenever you stand next to him
he always seems to shift a little closer to you, on impulse, like you’re his center of gravity
he always tells you that your smile brightens the room and put the sun to shame
and it makes you blush almost always, but he’s not having it, so he makes sure to make you smile as often as he can
and takes your hands in his and kisses them if you ever covered your mouth while you laughed
he can be a huge tease sometimes but other times it’s really him just indulging in the feeling of his hands on your skin, almost subconsciously reaching out to you whenever you’re close
literally will purr in your ears if you do the same
not that he ever minds you touching him, whether in front of others or not
especially when he’s propped in your lap and your fingers are working their way into his hair and massaging his scalp
he really needs these moments where he can just let his guard down and be loving with the person he trusts the most
he’d leave little presents and surprises for you when he’s not around
always expect your favorite flowers or plants to be littered around the palace, with small handwritten notes of his love tucked in between the petals
he knows he isn’t good with words
in fact, he may spout a thousand words in a minute but he still won’t get to the point of what he’s really trying to say
his ultra dramatic facade will eventually become more subtle, after realizing that sometimes……less is better
and that speaking his feelings from the heart is more important than any grand ball to show you off by his side
plus, his affections and loving gestures speak louder than any “I love you’s”
and those small intimate moments in private mean the world to him
he always thought making people envious by showing off how good you two look together would make you fall for him even more
but being alone with you, with no prying eyes or court members trying to get his opinion on everything, is his favorite place in the world to be
