She hugged her sister for a long moment, murmuring, “Well…if that’s okay?” she pulled back and looked at her, “I mean, I’ll follow Naomi anywhere, you know that.”
The cop stood before Katie with raised eyebrows. He was an older guy, which seemed like he was in the field for a while and knew how to ask questions. Katie gulped. "Katie Fitch. Well, Katherine Fitch, but everyone just calls me Katie." She felt like her voice was shaking, so she tried to steady it by clearing her throat.
Katie had just come back inside from getting some fresh air, and was push and pulled by police. She thought she had caught a glimpse of Mini across the dance floor, but maybe that was just the alcohol playing tricks. She had heard over the intercom that Alan Smith was murdered at this club, and she was overall happy. That sounds bad, but it's because it was Alan that Katie was happy. She knew his tendency to be an ass, and wouldn't miss him at all.
"Alright, just try to relax. How old are you?" The officer had a stern look, but their was kindness in his eyes. "Twenty One" Katie mumbled, running a hand through her messy hair. She realized she might have looked pretty bad, so she tried to smooth her hair down.
"Where are you from, Katie?" He asked. "Bristol, born and bred." Katie knew she had fear in her eyes, but at that moment she didn't care. She just wanted her mom, or her sister, or even Mini.
"Did you happen to know the victim? If so, from where and since when?" The officer crossed his arms and leaned in, as if to notify her that he was listening closely. "Uh" Katie shifted on one foot. This was an uncomfortable question. "I- Uh" Katie stuttered. "Katherine? Did you know the victim?" The officer was getting suspicious. "Last year, we had sex, like twice. Maybe three. Okay maybe like ten I don't know the exact number." Katie knew her face was bright red. The cop held in a laugh, clearing his throat and almost coughing.
"What were you doing at the Zodiac?" The officer seemed to believe Katie more. "Just- drinking and having a good time." Katie shrugged.
"When did you last see the victim?" He was barely even looking at Katie now, like he already made his decision about her. "When we broke up last year. Never saw him since." Katie sighed, remembering their fling was short lived.
"Please describe in detail what happened after the victim fell to the ground." The officer said this casually, like he wasn't aware of the question he just asked. "Well, I was outside, but I came back in and police were surrounding the place." Katie hugged her arms to her chest, her body shivering from the cool night.
The officer nodded. "Alright, almost done." He gave a reassuring smile, before leaning in close to whisper the next question. "Who do you think the murderer is and why?"
"Probably that crazy bitch Jude, she always has a weird look in her eyes." Katie answered whether quickly because she already had her assumptions about the murder.
"Thank you, Katie" His voice returning to a normal volume. "You're free to go."
"Yeah…same." Emily murmured. She paused for a moment before swallowing her pride and pulling her sister into a hug, it wasn’t like Katie hadn’t done that for her.
