I’ve been itching to paint a waterscape featuring a water vessel of some kind ever since I started out with pastels, and recently that itch was scratched after I had the pleasure of creating this piece for a client’s grandparents who owned this beautiful yacht ⛵️
This darling boy was commissioned as a surprise gift for his owner for Christmas last year!
He is sadly no longer with us so he will live on through this portrait, and his owner loved the piece ♥️

Here’s a commissioned piece of a cheeky King Charles Cavalier Spaniel called Ben, pictured with his favourite ball!
This piece was quite a learning curve after never had drawn grass in pastels before, and was even more a challenge considering the high angle, but I’m happy with how it turned out and so was my client!

And here’s this little guy all complete with his shell! It was quite a refreshing change to be focusing on so many little details and it was actually really fun to do ☺️
I’ve been struggling a bit with finding enjoyment in graphite now that I’ve started to explore pastels, which is a totally different technique, but I think drawing this little guy has helped spark my interest and patience in the medium again!
Quite a different subject found its way into my drawing board recently - a little tortoise!
I worked on this section primarily with a mechanical pencil to get all the little details in on this little guy 🐢
Here’s the completed commission of Bailey! He was a such a joy to draw.
