March 4th You have been gone 365 days and I have missed you for each of them. Momma. My champion. I understand parents are supposed to go before their children, I just didn’t expect it to be so early. It should have been later. You should have been wrinkled and gray. You should have watched your grandchildren get married first. It should have been later. I would have preferred never. I imagine you are skipping along the yellow brick road or flying off to Neverland the way we played pretend when I was little. You knew all the songs. I’m sure the witch and the pirate are no match for you. No one was ever a match for you. Maybe when we leave here, we go to a place of our own making like that movie with Robin Williams. Maybe you are inside one of my paintings. I hope it’s one of the happy ones. There are only so many ways I can say I miss you so I won’t say it again. I have so many questions I’ll never know the answers to. Are you with Angela? Do you miss us? Are you at peace? What am I supposed to do? Why?
