Hey. Are you still active?

Yes and no. I check this blog and my dash every now and again and I have side blogs that I run that I am personally choosing not to disclose. Sometimes I’ll reblog something if I deem it important enough or comment on a random post. But I’m not active in terms of the stuff I used to post on here.

Why aren’t you in the self ship community anymore?

Two main reasons: 1) Tumblr wants to sanitize itself way too fucking badly for me, a kinky bastard, to feel safe posting the content I want to post. 2) The self ship community on here is chock full of toxic people who think it’s okay to demonize and harass people for shipping with certain characters. I’ve had enough of that nonsense and have since moved my self ship stuff to another platform where that sort of behavior isn’t tolerated.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love my current main (Katsuki) with my entire being, and I’m not giving him up for anything. Frankly I’m insulted that anyone would try to paint my love for my F/O, which is no different than anyone else’s, as “predatory” or “problematic”. If you don’t like it that’s fine but there are healthier and less asshole-ish ways to deal with that (blocking and ignoring).

If you really want to continue seeing my self ship content, DM me for the link to my Aethy (Aethy is 18+ only. Please have your age on your blog if you’re asking for my account), as that’s the only place where I’ve felt safe enough to post my self ship content. I’ve been tentatively examining Bluesky but have yet to make an account as I’m still trying to get a feel for whether or not my more spicy thoughts can be safely posted there.

First of all, if you know me, you know that being "argumentative" comes with the package, I'm opinionated as hell and I'm loud and clear about my boundaries, and if you have a problem with that we're likely not friends in the first place.

Also, this kinda depends on the situation but calling someone "argumentative" can be a red flag because it's intended to make them feel bad about asserting a boundary. So if someone's calling you "argumentative" OP, really think about what the situation was because it's not unreasonable to enforce your boundaries.

While that can be said about "flaky", to the best of my knowledge it tends to happen more with "argumentative".

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

This is a terrible idea.

We don't want things to "spread quietly". We want to know when anyone sees, shares, and comments on our stuff, from across the entire site. This change makes engagement harder to track. It's also unnecessarily confusing, especially to those of us who have used the site for nearly a decade, if not more.

Additionally, Tumblr is a blogging site. It occupies a unique niche in the social media landscape. This change to reblogs will make Tumblr lose one of the key features that make it stand out from other platforms.

If you actually care about your user base and community, roll back this change.

@staff as a Tumblr user for the last 12+ years, the idea of reblogs turning to "Twitter/Bluesky-like" chains is repulsive beyond comprehension. Tumblr is a blogging website. What makes Tumblr unique is the reblog system, where users can reblog a post to their blog and others can do the same.

What's NOT unique is hiding reblogs behind separate "chains." That just makes navigating this site even worse. Not only that, but it kills engagement.

I do understand what I reblogged about the Mazan case was not in what I usually post but you have to understand that this case is really REALLY big here and we need people to hear about it

Because that case proves that it's every cis man. It can be anyone. It's so sick and we are hoping that everyone involved will have a very heavy sentence

I want you to know that I am saying all of this with kindness, and that I am not defending any of the rapists in this trial. This was fucking horrible and I agree that everyone involved in harming her should be sentenced heavily.

That being said, I do not think that "every cis man" is a healthy narrative to push. You don't know how many "cis men" are actually closeted trans women or nonbinary people. The "all (cis) men suck" rhetoric is far too often twisted by transphobes to paint trans women as inherently dangerous.

On top of that, it absolves the individual men of blame by putting the blame on their gender. "All (cis) men are inherently like that" implies that they do not have control and they should not put in any effort to be better. That's not what we want. We WANT cis men to understand this is harmful and wrong and that they need to be better. The perpetrators made a CHOICE to hurt somebody, they could have not but they decided to anyway.

Also, my dad wasn't in on this. Neither were my brothers. Or my grandfathers or uncles or friends. Should I be scared of my own family because "it's every cis man"?

um, kind of? im quite autisic so i didn't like veggies because they were inconsistent. but it's very much a popular parenting struggle to get your kids to eat veggies, less so with fruit. Broccoli and brussel sprouts are the most hated ones around all kids, I think, and then baby carrots are more popular iirc from childhood.

I know my brother and I never really liked them, but they were always piled on our plates raw and undressed. However it's not a "I hate all veggies" thing and more of a "I never really liked what they served up or how they served it up". However fruit fucking slaps it's so good the only reason I don't eat enough of that is because it's not easily available to me

It kind of varies from kid to kid. For example, as a child I ate broccoli, lima beans, carrots, potatoes, peas, cauliflower, and corn willingly and eagerly. But I didn’t eat bell peppers, kale, celery, or eggplant and still don’t as an adult. The ones I grew into were onions, spinach, and brussel sprouts (so long as they are roasted). My oldest younger brother on the other hand wasn’t a picky eater and I actually don’t know of any vegetable he doesn’t eat (but he has a different life than me, being in his 20s also and idk what his preferences are nowadays). My youngest brother was pickier than me for a time, he wouldn’t eat peas or egg yolks (both of which I love) and he doesn’t eat mushrooms (I also like mushrooms). He’s a bit less picky now but we both still have our things that one won’t eat but the other will.

Fruit on the other hand, at least in my household, is a different story. Between me, my father, and my other brother, my mom has to buy two packs of strawberries and two packs of blueberries and those won’t last the week. Growing up we had all sorts of fruit in the house (we actually had an apricot tree as kids and we’d pick and eat the apricots) and honestly getting us to NOT eat the fruit would be more of a challenge.

EDIT: for some demographic context, I grew up in an upper middle class Chinese American family

I just. dice them. with a knife. Morning of, btw. Note they are the small, waxy, colored potatoes, not like. russets, but you can use starchier potatoes if you wish (and are not on a high protein low ish calorie diet like me) or if that’s just what you have

And no, I don’t pre boil them, if you use small potatoes/dice them small enough you can steam them in the pan and they brown at the same time (just don’t let your heat get too high)
