The general public wouldn't give a shit if the media didn't start every headline about tax reforms with "BROKEN PROMISE". The changes to negative gearing/capital gains are minor changes for long term benefit to first home owners and the vast majority of people who exploited the old system are multi-millionaires with several properties. The average Australian only BENEFITS from these reforms and yet the media is trying its best to sacrifice Albo over sensible moderate policy and hide the details behind manufactured outrage because *checks notes* NewsCorp doesn't just own newspapers and media it has interests in real estate. Ah yes. Can't anger the billionaires and mega corporations whose CEOs evade taxes by investing in property and using trusts or you get pilloried.
