BEING TRANSGENDER IS NOT A FASHION STATEMENT

This is actually kind of untrue. Transgender does not have one definition and some people are transgender purely for the “fashion” part of it. Take me, for example. I grew up under the impression that I was a woman trapped in a male’s body, but around the age of seventeen, I realized that I really only liked dressing in women’s clothing. Transgender doesn’t have just one definition, so please don’t say that it isn’t for fashion. Sometimes it’s for fashion, sometime’s its psychological, sometimes its sexual, physical, or the ladder— and sometimes it isnt. Dressing in drag is a form of transgenderism as well as cross dressing, or being bigender. Even if you don’t look at sexuality with an open mind, there are more definitions of sexuality than anybody could ever imagine.

This statement said exactly what I wanted it to. And, that is that Transgenderism isn’t some run of the mill fashion statement. It is who someone is. But, because it’s “new” and “exciting” people are just going out and “deciding” they’re trans* because of that, just like homosexuality back in the 1970’s. Your gender isn’t decided by the clothing you wear, or what it between your legs, it’s decided by how you feel and who you are. It isn’t some thing that teenagers can experiment with, or that you can “test out”. I’m not bashing anyone by the statement I made, I was simply saying that being born equipped incorrectly isn’t something you run around and play with in a giggling tone to your friends. It’s a serious life scenario that more often than not leads to the person who was born with “some assembly required” to complete depression, especially when people view it as a play toy or some kind of commodity. And you can say all day long that “I didn’t word it correctly.” Or whatnot, but, I worded it *exactly* as I intended to.

Again, transgenderism, along with sexuality, is a broader spectrum than you seem to understand. It’s not a word and a definition. There’s this thing called the “transgender umbrella” have you heard of it?

It’s perfectly OKAY to experiment with your sexuality and gender, I know that I did before I figured out who I was. I agree than there are a lot of younger people who dont know what they are feeling and so they smack a label on themselves, but its not your place to judge them or give them a hard time. Mind your own business and instead of criticizing someone on what they choose to label themselves, attempt to understand them.

At the very least, I suppose you did word it how you wanted, but in reality, nothing can be explained by a word, humans, gender, sexuality, mentality, emotion - they’re all things you really can’t explain, in a structured thesis, let alone in a short sentence.

Fashion always comes back to sexuality, because it can be something that either defines how the person see’s themselves in terms of gender, sex, tradition, religion. Or it can be very provocative, which definitely comes back to that. Now, personally. I realise that you’ve said nothing like.

You’re talking about transgenderism, but that does come back to sexuality and gender identity; and it can mean only fashion, it can mean more mentality to anything else. There is no one term to describe such things. Assuming that there is and calling other people wrong for having a different opinion on the term reflects poorly on yourself.

There are a lot of people going through such things that don’t understand, they’re going with how they feel, and to tell them they feel wrong for doing it, is actually pretty disgusting, because maybe their gender identity, is only appearance based, perhaps it’s also a splash of personality in there.

My point is, THERE IS NO SINGLE WAY TO DEFINE SOMETHING. Which is what young lord phantomhive is trying to say, there is no single or correct way to define something as broad and complicated as, gender, sexuality and mentality. Humans are complex beings, and you can’t just slap a label on it and tell other people they’re wrong because you don’t agree, because I repeat. THERE IS NO ONE SINGLE WAY TO DESCRIBE SOMETHING, to identify as something.
