The door to the girls’ bathroom opened, but instead of a girl walking in, it was an 8-year-old little boy—Kauze, a pure founder.

—Bleeeh, why did this marble have to roll under the door?”

He grumbled, as if that were the biggest problem in the whole world—and for a small 8-year-old founder, it really was. But soon he frowned as he picked up the marble and looked at the girl crying in front of him. He had a slight understanding that in the girls’ bathroom, girls usually fixed themselves up, gossiped, put on lipstick, and cried. Everything except actually doing what you’re supposed to do in a bathroom.

—Hey, are you okay? Why are you crying?

Sayo was walking through the garden of the Sakamaki mansion, enjoying the time to herself amidst the roses.

But to her surprise, she spotted a small figure a short distance ahead of her. For a moment, she was confused as to what a child was doing at the mansion, but soon recognized the familiar face. She hadn't seen him in quite some time.

"Kauze...? Is that you?"

The little boy ran up to Sayo and jumped on her, hugging her tightly.

— Sayo! You’re here! How cool!

The little boy let go of her and smiled excitedly. Kauze was now living with Shin and Carla, but that didn’t stop him from visiting his friends.

— Did you know I grew 5 centimeters? I’m taller now!

He stood on his tiptoes and puffed out his chest, completely convinced.

At first, she was surprised by the sudden hug, but quickly hugged the boy in return before he let go of her.

"What a nice surprise! It's been so long..."

She surveyed him as he tried to make himself taller. Surely he must have grown some, even if it wasn't five centimeters.

"Yes, you do look taller," she giggled.

"Did you come to visit the Sakamakis...? I do remember you saying back when we met at the Mukami manor that you were friends with them too..."

— Yes! Dad said I could come today! I miss my friends. I bet if I make a really cute face, Reiji will cook something really tasty.

He smiled excitedly, but then gave a little hop and scratched his head in confusion. After all, he knew that the Sakamakis and the Mukamis weren’t exactly known for “sharing.”

— But hey! What are you doing here? Weren’t you living with the Mukamis?

"Fufu...I'm sure he will."

The idea of Reiji caving to the whims of a child was intriguing. She wondered which boys had a soft spot for him.

"Ah, well...as to why I'm here, it's a bit of a long story. But to keep it short, Kou and I aren't together anymore. I'm living here now because of that."

Kauze’s eyes widened. The little boy let out a small laugh, but quickly covered his mouth with his tiny hands, trying to hide it. It was no secret to anyone that he wasn’t Kou’s number one fan. But he also knew he couldn’t be that insensitive at such a moment.

— Puff... I mean! Oh no, I’m so sorry!

He placed his little hand on his forehead.

She caught the little laugh from the boy, but couldn't bring herself to be upset with him.

"Ah...Aha...It's alright, I don't mind you laughing. I know you didn't like him. I was the one who broke up with him, so it's okay. We just...weren't going to work. I didn't want to stay like that."

— Ohh… Are you okay, Sayo? Normally when adults break up, they get sad and eat a lot of candy.

He said with a bit of confusion, but quickly flashed a mischievous smile.

— Hey! I know a prince! He’s tall, strong, handsome… and he’s single. Why don’t you date him? That way you’ll become a princess

"I'm okay, you're sweet to worry about me."

She leaned down, petting the boy's head.

"I was sad, but I'm okay now. It's a little chaotic here...it's distracting at the very least fufu..."

The comment about Kauze knowing a prince sparked her curiosity. She certainly didn't need such a thing and had no desire to become a princess, but she did want to know what he meant.

"A prince? You know someone like that, Kauze?"

The little boy smiled and placed his small cold hands into Sayo’s.

— I do know him! He’s really kind! And his brother is even kinder!

Then he puffed out his chest proudly.

— And I’m a prince too! My daddy is the King of the Founders!

The boy smoothed down his hair, trying to look at least a little presentable for such a title.

— Do you want to come with me to say hi to my prince friend?

“You’re a prince too?”

“Wow, I had no idea I knew someone so important…”

Even if Sayo was half Founder, she had little knowledge of her race. She had to admit she was a bit curious. The Sakamakis surely would be upset to find out she left without saying anything, but they would most likely stop her if she said she was leaving with Kauze. That would just be a pain.

“I’ll probably be scolded for running off without saying anything….but yes, I am interested in meeting them.”

— Yes, I am!

He placed his little hand on his hip, beaming with pride.

— My papa is the First Blood King. So that makes me a prince!

He gave a little excited hop, but soon grabbed her hand and began pulling her toward the exit.

— Let’s go! Let’s go!

After a few minutes, they arrived at a simple flower shop in pastel tones. It was cozy, with beautiful flower arrangements on several shelves. But what caught their attention the most were two men sitting on the sofa at the back of the store.

— But how can you be sure that no one is trapped inside that device?

Daisuke frowned, holding Hiro’s phone. The prince had never seen such an object in his life. Many things had changed since he had woken from his vegetative state.

— No one is trapped. I swear…

Hiro smiled gently, trying to explain to his brother, even though he didn’t fully understand the phone himself. He only knew that sometimes it made sounds, and Ayato’s voice would come out of it.

Then he heard footsteps. The viper quickly stood up and walked toward the entrance of the flower shop.

— Kauze… what a lovely surprise. How are you?

He smiled at the little Founder but soon noticed the girl beside him. Hiro’s cheeks flushed slightly.

— A-Ah… Forgive me, miss. I… I hadn’t noticed you. Can I help you with something?

Sayo glanced around in awe of the flower shop, still being led by Kauze’s hand. She enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and simply enjoyed flowers in general, so it was quite charming to her.

As she leaned over to admire one of the flower arrangements on the shelf beside her, a voice called out.

A pink haired man was now standing there in front of them. He appeared to be pleasantly surprised to see Kauze but then a bit flustered when he noticed her.

“Um..hi. Sorry for intruding. I’m Kauze’s friend, Makina Sayori, but please call me Sayo. I came with him for a visit.”

She noticed his nails, which were perfectly long and manicured.

“Oh wow…! Your nails are so pretty! I’m the worst, I can’t keep mine even painted for the life of me.”

— Hiro!!

The little boy jumped onto the viper and hugged him tightly.

— Hiro! Hiro! Is Daisuke here? Did you make sweets today?

The little boy asked, completely excited. Then he ran to the back of the flower shop and threw himself onto the prince.

— Daisuke! Come meet my friend!

Hiro smiled a little shyly as Kauze jumped onto him. He gave a gentle peck on the little blonde head, and before he could respond, the boy had already run over to Daisuke. Then he looked at Sayo and blushed slightly.

— Oh… Thank you very much, Miss Sayo… I’m glad you liked it… I… I really liked your hair… It’s very full and healthy.

He smiled timidly. Then footsteps could be heard—Daisuke had appeared, holding Kauze in one arm. He looked at Sayo and smiled warmly, making a small gesture as he took her hand and placed a light kiss on it, as he does with all the ladies he meets.

— Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you~

Sayo watched, amused as Kauze jumped on Hiro and then ran off.

"Such a cute kid..." she giggled under her breath.

Her own cheeks flushed slightly as well in response to the compliment from Hiro.

"Ah...thank you, I appreciate it. It's so long it can be a pain sometimes, but I'm not really interested in cutting it."

Her attention was pulled to the footsteps coming from behind Hiro. The man was holding Kauze. She couldn't help but feel the child must be loved by practically everyone he meets considering he was so friendly with everyone she knew.

"Oh...!" Her cheeks flushed as Daisuke placed a kiss on her hand.

"Um, hello...It's nice to meet you as well. Your flower shop is wonderful. It's so pretty..."

She fiddled her fingers together, glancing between the two.

"Kauze said you were both Founders too...?"

The little boy smiled and gave Daisuke a small kiss on the cheek, right over one of the prince’s scars.

— Oh! I don’t think I explained it very well — they’re not Founders! They’re from the Viper Clan…!

He hugged Daisuke even tighter.

— Yuriko, is your baby big enough for me to play with already? Like, can I put her in my bike basket and ride around, or sign her up for my scout troop? Or is she still just lying there staring at the ceiling all day?

"Oh, Kauze-kun! Tsukimi has grown quite a lot during this time. She can even stand on her own two feet now. But... I'm not sure about riding a bike or such... Umh... maybe you two could play with a ball together, or we all could swim in the pool?"

Mister wolf, who had been sleeping peacefully on his back in the living room, suddenly sprang to his feet and bolted toward the kitchen. He positioned himself between Kauze and the voice, hackles raised, teeth bared, and claws scraping loudly against the floor.

— Grrrrrr!

Kauze lunged forward, trying to restrain the wolf, whose low growl vibrated through the air. The little boy wanted to bury himself in the ground out of pure embarrassment. Not only had he been caught in the act, but now his wolf was showing its wild side—and he could see from Sora’s mischievous smile that she was clearly enjoying seeing him so flustered.

— Mister Wolf! Calm down!

The wolf’s ears flicked back, but he still let out a low rumble, sniffing the air and pacing from side to side. The little boy, red with shame, scratched his head awkwardly.

Kauze smiled softly, though a hint of sadness lingered—this wasn’t the warm reunion he had hoped for. The little boy glanced at Sora, frowning at how amused she seemed by the chaos, and ignored the oven timer’s beep.

— Hmm…

“Sure honey, less sweet okay? Love you too—”

“Whoa—whOA there!— Who'd let the dog in?! Get it out— Shujin would be mad seeing that around a kid, geez...”

A beat, then a heavy sigh heaved.

“...Missed you too, Little man. Long time no see— Been awhile hasn't it? Good to see you again.”

— He’s not a dog! He’s a wolf… look at his fangs.

The little boy reached into the wolf’s mouth and opened it, showing off the huge fangs. The wolf, even though he thought it was ridiculous, took the opportunity to display them. But soon he huffed and shook his head.

— I’m also really happy to see you!

He gave a little excited hop. Then he looked at Sora and picked up the box of Legos that had fallen to the floor during the commotion.

— We can build our Legos together if you want! I have some really colorful ones, and even some with glitter.

Then a cold, calm voice echoed through the room. Carla, who was observing everything through the eyes of his familiar—or rather, through the Mister wolf—was somewhat alarmed when he saw the animal get agitated for the second time in a row. This was what made him leave his castle and come to the Mukami mansion in search of his heir.

— Excellent. You’ve seen everyone already, now let’s go, Kauze.

He said in a calm and controlled manner.

— Daddy!

The little boy ran up to Carla and hugged him tightly. But soon he made a sad, puppy-like face.

— Daddy, can I stay a little longer? Please!

Carla squinted his eyes, clearly torn between giving in to his heir’s wishes and leaving this place full of vampires as soon as possible.

— Alright. You can stay a little longer. But after this, we’ll go straight home.

Sora had stayed quiet, simply watching, listening to the conversation with wide, attentive eyes as everything unfolded before her—

Until the tall man appeared. Her eyes widened a little, and she blinked in surprise.

Then, a warm, polite smile bloomed on her face, brightening as she looked up at the white-haired figure.

“Hi, mister—are you Kau-Kau’s daddy?”

“You’re so tall! And your hair… it’s as white as snow. It looks so smooth and silky too… so pretty!”

The little boy gave a little excited hop, happy that Carla was with him and letting him play a bit longer before leaving.

— Thank you, Daddy!

He smiled and sat down on the floor, opening the Lego box and spreading the pieces out to build something.

— .. Are you coming?

Kauze called to Sora, separating pieces for her to play with as well. Carla raised an eyebrow, hearing the girl’s compliments.

— Yes. I am, and Kisama should know that there are certain behaviors I will not tolerate with my son.

He said it to Sora, but his tone rose a bit so that Kuron could hear as well. After all, he could see through his familiar’s eyes the scolding Kuron had given Kauze some time ago and Sora’s expression during it.

“Kisama…?”

Sora tilted her head, brows raising in puzzled wonder. She had never heard that word before, not once.

Looking up at the camera with wide, curious eyes, she asked softly—

“Papa, what’s a ‘Kisama’…?”

—Silence. Complete silence.

Then—with almost a choked voice—

“...I-it means Kiss my as——”

“—Kiss a cat. Mhn.”

A soft clear of throat.

“—Don't bother about it baby. It's not an important word, not something we should care about at all.”

“Daddy's gonna go back to work now, you take care and play with Kau-Kau okay? Love you~”

With that the camera went silent, the previous light by the corner shut off.

Carla remained silent. He simply sat on a part of the sofa, sitting a little stiffly. He didn’t care about the pathetic explanation Kuron had given the girl. After all, it wasn’t something that concerned him. His golden eyes were focused on Kauze, who was building a small house with the blocks.

— ...

Kauze, on the other hand, was completely oblivious to the situation. He even found it a little funny the way Kuron had reacted. He then waved his little hand, trying to get Sora’s attention.

— Hello? Hello? Earth to Sora! Our city isn’t going to build itself!

“Huh? Oh—”

After casting one last cautious glance at the tall, white-haired man, Sora carefully shuffled over to Kauze’s side. She crouched down beside him, leaning close so only he could hear her whisper—

“...Can we go play in my room?”

She paused, her eyes darting nervously back toward the man before adding in a hushed, conspiratorial tone:

“Your daddy’s… really scary!”

— I know. And it’s really fun, because that way no one messes with me.

He said proudly, puffing out his chest. After all, finally, after years, he had someone to protect him and be scary for him.

— But don’t worry. Daddy won’t do anything to you. He’s just watching.

The little boy pointed at Carla. But then he ran to the kitchen and came back with one of the cookies he had made.

— Daddy! Sora taught me how to make cookies! This one’s for you.

Carla carefully moved his hand. He held the cookie between his fingers, examining it.

— Thank you, little one. But you shouldn’t worry about mundane tasks. One day you’ll be a king. Making cookies will be your last priority.

He gently placed his hand on Kauze’s shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. The cold hand of the Founder went to Kauze’s blond hair, adjusting the boy’s bangs.

— Now go play with your friend. I’m sure you’ll show her how a true Founder builds with blocks.

Kauze giggled softly and ran to Sora, sitting down beside her. He gathered the pieces and put them back in the little box.

— Okay! Let’s play in your room then!

“Mhn!”

Sora nodded at the blonde boy with a cheerful smile.

Then her eyes traced back to the white haired man.

She then trotted off toward the kitchen, disappearing for a short while before returning—her little arms full. A jar of cookies was balanced carefully in her one hand, a medium pink thermal flask tucked snugly under one arm, and in the other she carried a tiny glittery drawstring pouch, the rough fabric tied neatly at the top. Inside were three duck-shaped cookies she had baked earlier.

“Here, Kau-Kau's daddy, these are the ones I made. You can have some too!”

She beamed as she offered the dainty pouch to the white-haired man, before turning brightly to Kauze, beaming,

“Alright, let’s go! Follow me ☆”

With that, she skipped happily toward her room.

Carla raised an eyebrow, he took the colorful pouch and examined it seriously. He then opened it and took out a cookie. But he didn’t eat it.

— 25 minutes, Kauze. No more.

The wolf wagged his tail excitedly on the floor, quickly eating the cookie. Carla then slipped Sora’s little pouch of cookies into the pocket of his large coat. He was still unsure if he would eat them himself, but at least his wolves had enjoyed a treat. He then examined Kauze’s cookie and tucked it into his pocket as well. Perhaps he wouldn’t eat that one either, but he would keep it to make his son happy.

— Woof!

In Sora’s room, Kauze sat on the rug, threw the Lego pieces on the floor, and began building.

— You know, Daddy Carla isn’t really my dad. He adopted me!

The little boy said happily.

“Oh, he’s not?”

Sora blinked as she set the jar of cookies down on her desk, carefully pouring a few out onto the lid to serve as a tiny plate.

Reaching for the flask, she unscrewed the top—revealing the cup that came with it—and began to pour out some steaming tea.

“Oh wait! I forgot your cup!”

“Please waaiiit—”

In a flurry, she darted out of the room, only to return moments later clutching a small blue cup. Setting it neatly beside the flask, she filled it with tea before looking up with a bright grin.

“This is little brother Sei’s cup. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind it~”

With that, she carried the makeshift cookie plate and both cups over to where the blonde boy sat.

Then she plopped down beside him, setting the treats and tea within easy reach for them both on the rug.

The little boy smiled and then picked up the cup, sipping the tea.

— Hmm~

He grinned. But soon he began building some little houses with the blocks.

— Yes. He isn’t. My dad and my mom… — he looked away. — They were killed by an evil vampire. But I don’t remember them very well. The evil vampire erased my memory.

He ate a cookie.

— But… then after some time Daddy Carla found me! Now he takes care of me. But he doesn’t talk much about my biological parents. He says they were evil.

— One day, Uncle Shin told me that they would grab children off the streets. Then they made them fight each other just to see who would survive!

He said it as if he were telling a scary story, and in the end it really was—but it was a true story.

“Mhn... hmm.”

Sora gave a little nod to the blonde boy’s words—absentminded, offering hardly any real feedback—as her small hands wandered to the pile of Lego pieces, joining in the construction without much thought.

She wasn’t quite sure if she should believe what he was saying or not, and her polite upbringing kept her from making any judgments aloud either.

So she decided to move on with her own topic—

“…My two papas are super idols—but Papa Sky is the real superstar!”

Her eyes lit up as she said it, voice carrying a note of pride.

“He’s really, really good at dancing and singing—and someday I wanna be just as awesome as him!”

With that, she bounced to her feet, tugged something from the frills of her tutu skirt, and revealed a tiny glittery pink microphone. She raised it high above her head, tilting her chin in the exact pose her super idol papa had once shown her.

Then, with a practiced idol-like twirl—her tutu flaring out in a glittery flutter just the way she’d seen her papa do on stage—she lifted her mic high and declared:

“I’m gonna be—The Super Glittery Duck Princess Idol ☆”

Kauze’s little eyes widened. He scratched his head, looking a bit confused—he didn’t really care much about that whole idol world or anything like it. Still, he clapped his hands when he saw the girl so excited about it. After all, he knew it was important to her.

— Duck…? Hmm… Alright then.

He scratched his head again, not wanting to judge too much. He lightly touched the tutu, raising an eyebrow curiously. But soon he pouted, remembering Sora’s other father—his greatest “rival”! The one whose face he always drew with a big “X” and taped to his bedroom door. Kauze lifted his chin proudly.

— Hmph! To me, your other daddy is way cooler than the one you just mentioned.

He decided not to dwell on the subject—after all, it would be foolish to badmouth Kou in front of Sora—but he still furrowed his brows at the mere thought of the blond idol.

— Hey, why don’t you come to my castle so we can take pictures for your album? There are lots of really beautiful places there!

The door to the room suddenly burst open with a resounding slam, the said blonde idol appearing in the doorway like a storm.

Panic and anxiety painted his face as his head whipped from side to side, eyes frantically searching around—

—until at last, they landed on the small figure in the room. Not blonde. Not unfamiliar.

Relief flooded his expression in an instant, his shoulders sagging as a heavy breath escaped him. Without wasting a heartbeat, he rushed forward, scooping little Sora into his arms.

“Oh—my ducky, my princess—!”

“You’re okay..! Thank goodness… I was so worried I rushed out straight after rehearsal just to get to you.”

His voice trembled between frantic devotion and sheer relief as he checked her over, almost rambling.

“Are you okay? Did you get hurt? Did that snake do anything to you? What—”

Then he froze.

Only now did his wide eyes register the other presences in the room.

Blonde. Small. Familiar, and yet—at this moment, he couldn’t quite place them.

His gaze sharpened.

“...Who are you—and what are you doing in my daughter’s room?”

“Papaaaa☆☆”

With a squeal of joy, Sora threw her tiny arms around her beloved super idol papa—her shining Papa Sky.

She buried her face against his chest, rubbing her cheek affectionately against the warmth of her blonde daddy before peppering his face with a flurry of little kisses.

Then she leaned back slightly, blinking up at him in puzzlement, her head tilting like a curious kitten as his words sank in.

“...Snake? What snake—?”

“There’s no snake, Papa. Only this little blonde boy that looks just like you—he’s my new friend!” @kauzebridgerton

“But earlier, his papa came too. He’s got long, silky white hair—very tall too!”

“But his voice is really deep...”

As soon as Kou entered the room, the little boy rolled his eyes. He crossed his little arms and looked at the idol, not caring at all whether Kou recognized him or not.

— Hm! She’s the one who called me here! She said my daddy is scary.

The little boy shrugged, not caring much. He wasn’t the type to direct teasing at the vampire—but he felt personally attacked when he was compared to his greatest vampire rival.

— I’m not like him!

The little boy shouted, clutching his hair as if he could hide it that way.

— Hmmm!

He flopped dramatically onto the floor, pretending a slow, painful death. Then calm footsteps were heard. Carla wasn’t foolish—he knew they were talking about him. And he also knew about his son’s dislike for the idol.

— Kauze. Come. — Carla said firmly, leaving no room for discussion. His patience had already run out.

The little boy then got up and ran to Carla, trying to hide inside Carla’s coat.

It was only then that Kou finally seemed to recognise the blonde haired child, which had a tiny resemblance to his other child.

“...You.”

“What are you doing here—”

Kou's eyes narrowed at the sight of the founder that had arrived, and his face showed an obvious distaste quite clearly, before it quickly shifted a look of wry smile with a raised brow.

“Well no wonder you seemed familiar, your that little kid Kauze~"

“Ahhh, so the stray dog is his papa huh~”

“Did you have fun playing with your new friend my ducky princess? Nobody hurt you did they?~”

He said with a loving smile as he held the little girl, sitting on his arm as he gave all the attention in the world to her.

“No, papa—no one hurt me. Sora’s a big girl and she knows how to protect herself from bad people~”

She giggled softly, catching hold of her papa’s other arm and swinging it back and forth in playful circles.

“Kau-Kau’s super nice to me! He even let me play with his toys and share them with me.” @kauzebridgerton

“Say, Papa...Can I go to his house and play next time?”

“Papa Moon even said he’ll get us more toys so that we can play together!”

“Ohh you sweet ducky...sure. Maybe next time. But only if your papa moon says it's okay.”

He said with a dry smile, his eyes darting a look over to the camera that was placed at the corner as he glared at it with a clear readable expression of 'what the hell' to Kuron who he knew was watching.

“But Kauze over here, is always welcome to play with you. Since we're already, long... acquainted~”

He said, reaching for the right words as he eyed the elder founded and glanced at the little boy.
