Tadano

I really liked this new character. He is the only one so far to fundamentally challenge Retsuko on the traditional ideas instilled in her surroundings - something that the other men in her lives, Haida included, could not do. Tadano also cared about Retsuko enough to give up when he realized he would not be able to give her what she wanted the most from him.

In terms of romance, Retsuko’s relationship with him is also her best one so far. Although the dominant cultural norms prevailed over the progressives ideas which their coupling would have represented, that is by no means a failure for either side. Retsuko had to chance to choose her values in the face of the opportunity to consider other possible alternatives.

I hope they bring him back next season.
