Late day 6 for Kawoshin Week 2026
I was hoping I could finish the oneshot this is connected to before posting this but I want to hurry cause I'm late & it's 11:58pm right now.(Update: It's 1am, I took too long to post this)
I had another pic I wanted to make for day 5 but due to how late shit is getting that will just be a normal post instead of for a ship week.
Day 6 was 2928 / Post 3.0+1.0 | Reunion | Old Men Yaoi
I chose old man yaoi but this also works for day 7's theme of "Happy /Cuddling/Domestic Fluff" since they're happy & it's a domestic scene in their backyard.
Here's Kaworu & Shinji as old people enjoying retirement. They both lived a good life together raising 5 kids(in fact the youngest is sitting next to Shinji while her daughter sleeps on Kaworu) & have a good retirement fund.
At the moment they're enjoying the sunset together with Evie & her daughter as well as their pet cats. Shinji has over time with help from Kaworu grown comfortable with wearing whatever he likes so he's in a skirt.(Funny enough this is based on pic of Yui holding toddler Shinji) At some point he grew out his hair a little, not too much cause he doesn't want to deal with long hair but just enough that that he likes it. Kaworu has grown his own hair out & Shinji enjoys helping him with it since it's not on him.(He thinks Kaworu looks nice with it too)
This is my idea of how their story ends post-Rebuild far into their future when they're old. Like I said they both lived good lives together, they still have many years ahead of them. Evie, her spouse & Evie's one year old daughter live with Kaworu & Shinji, the two are able to help out with their granddaughter & they're all able to get along.
I imagine Kaworu & Shinji are going to go on a cruise at some point that takes them to a few places in different countries. A part of me wants to imagine they did this one other time which was for their honeymoon. This is also based on a past idea I made up back when it seemed like the final movie was taking too long to come out.
I might draw it later but all you really need to know for this is that after the kids moved out of the house Kaworu, Shinji & Evie traveled the world for a little bit. This cruise is the closest thing to it.
This is my first time drawing proper old person designs for characters. The first attempt with Byakuya & Makoto didn't go well cause I was in a rush & at best it's technically the designs I & my friend decided on for in their 30s or so. I might draw older designs later cause I got an idea to draw them at different ages.
I had a really hard time working on the background, I wanted to draw them on a Japanese backyard with a deck/porch.(Think of the one from Neko Atsume) It was hard finding refs cause Google gave me photos of yards designed to look Japanese style/tea house or some shit. Not even looking for suburban Japanese yards helped.
I just gave up & went to look for scenes from the movies Saiko the Large Family & The Cursed Large Family(this is the prequel to Saiko) to use for refs.
I apologize for posting this(and other related posts) late, I was semi prepared to make things in advance but I forgot I was visiting family over the weekend which added to some issues.
With luck things go better next year(or at least I don't end up with digital art again cause that slowed me down).
I'm gonna finish the oneshot connected to this in the morning or something then link it here. I'll try to make the pic I failed to get to at a later point.
Have a good night, I should go to bed.(My head hurt but at least I'm not exhausted enough to be dozing off like the last few nights working on late shit)
