When her sister didn’t cheers her back, she swiftly lowered her drink and took a sip, setting it down when she was done. She also gestured for the waitress to bring another one for her too.
"We don’t. That time has passed. He wasn’t there for us." When the waitress brought their drinks, she finished her first one, eating the olives and then moving on to the new one.
"Are you going to confront him? He has to know I’ll tell you. He’s not stupid."
"He's definitely not stupid. I'll give him that much, though one could say to the contrary because he didn't simply fucking tell me." The whole thing didn't make sense in her mind. "He helped me though Rose... the only reason that Agent gave me a second look was because he said boo."
She listened, letting her sister get her anger out. “Yeah, I mean. We’re both adults now. We’ve gotten this far without a father, we don’t need one now.” The waitress brought their drinks. She took hers and took a sip. It felt good. The woman took their orders and then hurried on her way to put them in.
"I just can’t believe he didn’t tell you first. Like he met you first. Duh!" They were both collectively angry at him. She was okay with this. She held up her drink in a cheers motion. "To not needing a father!"
Kaya didn't cheers her sister, for she was far too angry with her father. Father. The person that was supposed to protect her from all the evil's in life wouldn't even own up to who he was with her.
"I just don't... I don't..." Kaya groaned before downing half her martini, signalling for the waitress to bring her another one. "We don't need him."Â
But the truth was without him, she'd be nothing. If he hadn't given her that card, if that Agent hadn't taken her on... where would she be? Bussing tables or waitressing to make rent in a tiny shared apartment with five roommates or something like that.
She smirked at the way Kaya handled things with the waitress. Her little sister was always a little queen. She adored it. “Yes. Threw me for a fucking loop. I’m still not over it.” She tried searching through the menu as best she could. She was still quite hungry and she didn’t know what she wanted. She finally settled on Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and set down the menu. “I’m still not sure if I want a relationship with him. Technically you do. Is that going to change now?”
"I don't technically do." Kaya snapped angrily, more furious with Noah than anything else. Was that why he'd protected her against Carmine? Helped her get away that night? Was that why he'd handed her the card of the agent who'd skyrocketed her into modelling fame?
"He... he lied to me. For months." She shook her head. "No. No. Don't. No I don't want anything to do with him, I don't care what he did for me."
"He pretty much blurted it out that he is our father and went on about not choosing to give us up but honestly, I didn’t buy it. I left before he could say anything else. I was so pissed." She drank more of her water. When the waitress came back, she ordered something else. "I’ll have a martini, extra olives?" she said, then looking to her sister.
"Make mine a gin martini." Kaya replied without missing a beat. "With a twist, no olives. Thanks." Then she pretty much shooed the waitress away with her trademark glare. She almost added and don't come back without those drinks but the truth was she was too speechless, almost, to say that.
"He just... said he's our dad." Kaya threw up her hands. "Like... just like that, blurts it out?" she could feel her anger beginning to bubble up. "After all this time he's my father and he hasn't said a word because...."
"No. The man told me himself. We met outside the building. I bummed a smoke off of him and then he bought me a drink. We got to talking and he just fucking spills it on me. I left real fast." She sipped the water that the waiter had brought them. She still looked over the menu, unable to focus.
Kaya could feel her head begin to spin slightly. "If that's true why didn't he just tell me himself. He's had plenty of chances, he's practically a goddamned friend of mine." though she did realize it was a bit peculiar how he was always looking out for her, for no reason what so ever. Then the thought occurred to her that he was looking over her because she was so closely related to him.Â
"What did Noah say? Exactly."
She sat down with her sister and giggled. “Nope! As long as we stay in the building.” She opened a menu, the news of their father still on her mind. She decided to be blunt. “So… I met dad. Our real dad. I figured you should know.”
"Ha." Kaya laughed out loud harshly. Unknown to Rose she had no idea about any of this. "Are you talking about what that dick of a detective is saying? That Noah fucking Woodward is my father?" she laughed again. "Come on, you don't believe that shit do you? It was just some ploy to get me to give up where he is."
Rose had decided to have lunch in one of the restaurants in the Diangelo House, one of her only options and went to get a table. She saw her sister and decided to join her, hoping it was okay. She still had to talk to her about finding their dad. It would be an interesting conversation. “Hey Kay. Mind if I join you for lunch?” She asked, smiling.
Kaya looked up from the magazine she was looking at. Pictures of herself of course. She was tempted to sigh when she heard a voice but when she saw it was Rose her expression softened. She closed the magazine and swept it into her bag. "Sit down, as long as I don't have to pay for you." she winked, not that she'd mind giving her sister a couple of extra bucks under the table. She wasn't rich but she was making money.
Fuck! || Carmine & Kaya
The black SUV pulls up hastily on the sidewalk as Kaya starts to run, the door opening to reveal Carmine who immediately sets off after her himself.
"Fall back to the other side of the bridge, cut her off!"
His driver and associate both jump back inside the vehicle which roars to life and heads towards the other side of the bridge.
Kaya ducked under the bridge instead of going over it, breathing heavily as she ran down the slope of gravel and rocks, half tripping half running in five inch heels. How she'd ended up being chased was foggy to her.
All she knew was that she had to get away before Carmine got to her. He was far too dangerous to be around alone and with Evan gone AWOL there was really no one to protect her from him. Evan had stood behind her and now he'd just vanished into thin air.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." Kaya found herself tripping, falling face first into the gravel but stopping herself before she actually hit it. Just a couple scrapes and bruises, nothing that a photographer couldn't just edit out, she mused. Now if only she could get away from him.
Fuck!
Kaya takes off running as fast as she can in heels. "I'm too high for this." she mutters under her breathe as she continues running.
I meant they mean well in buying me gifts, not in hiring me. [Ziva chuckled under her breath, shrugging. Honestly, it was difficult for her to hate all of the men that hired her on principle. Ziva hadn’t ever been overly good at holding resentments anyway. At the comment about Evan, Ziva shrugged, noncommittal.] I don’t know Evan, but I’ll take your word for it.
"I guess maybe you're right on that aspect, they mean well enough to make sure you don't resent them too much when they're fucking you senseless."
Night Has Fallen || Kaya & Rose ||
"Sure, why not?" she held out a fist so her sister could put a bit of that white, powdery gold on her hand. She held it up to her nose and snorted it quick. The feeling was instant. She hadn’t had coke in a while but it felt so good, on a direct line to her brain. She bit her lip and smiled serenely. "Thank you baby sister." She sighed. "So, any hotties at this party?"
The car zoomed on down the road but now, that she was under the influence, the ride felt like a roller coaster. She giggled. Riding in cars on coke was ten times better without and she had to remember that.
"The usual. Half of them are so full of themselves it's impossible for them to get it up for anyone but the mirror and the other half are so gay they've never seen a vag." Kaya laughed, taking another hit before putting the necklace back in purse. She heard the driver say something through the partition and banged on it. "Shut up and drive!"
Then the door opened. "I said we're here." He looked annoyed and Kaya rubbed her nose to reduce any trace evidence of her extra curricular activities.
"Here we are I guess."
"Kaya! Kaya!" she heard her name being shouted and then there were the paparazzi. She grabbed her sister by the hand and made a beeline for the entrance, ignoring the flashes, not wanting to make a comment on this or that for today.
Her agent was going to kill her.
Night Has Fallen || Kaya & Rose ||
"A party? With models? I’m down." She smirked as she got in the car. That was something she always enjoyed about her sister. She always knew how to have a good time. She settled into the seat in the back of the expensive car that she knew her sister didn’t have to pay for.
She watched as the city lights flew by, happy to see them once more. “I could definitely use a drink thats for sure.”
"I could use more than a drink." Kaya hit the button to bring up the partition separating them from the driver before she dug through her purse for the 'necklace' she carried around. She held onto the damn thing for dear life as she unscrewed the false top of the cross to get out a hit of coke, inhaling it without hesitating.
"Now that I can actually afford the stuff why the fuck not. You want some?" If she'd had any kind of morals, she didn't, she'd wonder if it was proper for a baby sister to be offering her older sister coke in the back of partitioned sedan headed for a fashion party.
But she didn't so Kaya didn't wonder if there was anything wrong with the situation.
