Love at First Sight - Partially redrawn

I always quite like this old drawing, but the way I drew Rumlow really doesn't look like Rumlow and it has been bugging me for quite a long time. So yes after 3 years, here I am redrawing his face lol

Will Winter Soldier dream of chocolate bars

*Rumlow constantly carries some kind of chocolate bar (yes i randomly picked Hershey’s) and he’ll share it with the soldier during missions. So even after the wipes, The soldier finds the chocolate bar looks weirdly RIGHT with the commander.

I feel like the HTP/winterbones fandom is very divided on this but I'm curious to know how divided and where everyone stands. Please explain your thoughts and reasoning in the replies or tags if you don't mind! Why do you love it or hate it? If there are specific situations where you're fine with it but not others, what are they?

Rumlow & Bucky threatening people with a custom SIG Sauer P226 SCT

At first glance Bucky’s gun in TFATWS may not look particularly special or appear to have any narrative significance, but I’m here to tell you that’s almost certainly not the case, whether intentional or not.

I already thought the parallel was fascinating when I first noticed these guns looked similar, but the deeper I dug the more compelling the story got. They aren’t just similar, they’re the exact same gun. Which ordinarily wouldn’t be that all that special either, since many people use the same type of gun, but this isn’t some generic off-the-shelf model. In fact, I now think this custom P226 SCT is so unique as to be intrinsically linked to Rumlow, and I’m going to make the case that its reappearance in TFATWS is so remarkable that the gun (and therefore likely Rumlow himself) must hold some sort of significance for Bucky.

Buckle up, I’m about to overanalyze the shit out of this gun.

I like this theory. I like it a lot. And I’ve had a similar thought myself.

Bucktopher is correct that we never see Sharon pick up The Gun during the shootout, which is why I hadn’t originally considered this possibility when I first created the post. She rolls under a desk and picks up some random Glock. Which I’ve thought was weird ever since I noticed it was a different gun because in theory Rumlow’s gun should be right there at his feet where she’d be able to easily grab it when she drops to the ground. So why doesn’t she?? My only guess is that Rumlow must have kicked it out of reach during the chaos, even though we don’t see it. But I digress.

I don’t know when or why she would’ve picked up The Gun since it doesn’t happen onscreen (maybe the Glock ran out of bullets) or why she would’ve secretly held on to it all this time (except that it is a very nice gun and Rumlow stole her gun so maybe she considered it hers now, by right). But the fact that the last time we see it, Sharon is there, and then the very next time it shows up, 10 years later, Sharon is also there and conveniently outfitting Sam and Bucky with clothing, and presumably, weapons? That’s almost too much of a coincidence. Barring any new information, to me this is by far the simplest and most logical explanation for how Rumlow’s gun mysteriously reappears in TFATWS. This would also canonically make it the exact same gun, not just a replica, which is the most likely option given its uniqueness.

Even if this is the method by which he acquires The Gun, I still don’t believe it’s a coincidence that it ends up in Bucky’s possession. Like Bucktopher, I bet he saw Sharon’s arsenal and chose it very deliberately. For what reason I can still only guess, but the fact that Bucky clearly chooses to keep it – rather than returning it to Sharon or just tossing it once it’s out of bullets and no longer useful (as the Winter Soldier was wont to do) – is telling.
