Another portrait I sketched a while ago
Another WIP shot while I finish re-doing this handheld weapon model, using one of my pieces of concept art as reference! Final tweaks to the top area and the handle before I apply some modifiers
Another quick portrait I drew last year!
A quick sketch I made last year. It’d been a minute since I’d done any dedicated portrait drawing and I was a little rusty. I’ve really missed it, though
I decided to completely re-do this older piece of mine in Blender, so it has better edge flow and topology for texturing and UV mapping; 3D art of a handheld weapon I designed a while ago. I started from scratch and ended up moving pretty quickly to get it to this point, compared to my speed back when I originally made this one in 2017. The top still needs more work, but the actual mesh is almost done, and the edge flow already makes some more sense compared to what it was
A rendered shot of a 3D model I made in Blender, using concept art of a handheld weapon I designed as reference! I made this model a while ago, but recently decided to restage it with better lighting and a better composition. I’m in the process of unwrapping and texturing this one
Another WIP shot of that quick exercise I gave myself! I used a vintage fork from my local recycling/reuse center as reference, and tried out using a Bump map instead of sculpting to add some detail and learn about the node editor some more. It needs a little bit more refining, but I think I’m pretty much done
I’m using small “sprints” like this as an intro to unwrapping and shaders/texturing, before moving onto more complex models
Continuing to learn about texturing and shaders in Blender with a quick exercise! I spent a few minutes modeling a vintage fork I saw at my local reuse/recycling center, and tried out adding a bump map to paint in some details. The mesh isn’t done yet; I still need to add the bend so it’s not as flat, but I figured I’d post a quick WIP of it
Using bump maps like this reminds me of sculpting details directly onto the mesh tbh
A 3d model I made in Blender using one of my antique kerosene lamps and the glass bulb/globe from another as reference! I sculpted the floral details using Blender’s built-in sculpting tools and my drawing tablet
A rendered image of that glass goblet I modeled using some photos I took of a vintage glass goblet of mine as reference! I’m using Blender’s Cycles render engine for this one, and assigned (and tweaked) a glass material to the model. I used the Spin Tool to get the glass’s basic shape, then got the general placement of the ruffles at the top using proportional editing. I used my drawing tablet and Blender’s built-in sculpting brushes to refine the ruffles and add those creases at the top of the glass. Then I dropped in Blender’s Tri-Lighting setup as a starting point, before refining it with accent lighting so the details at the top were showcased. I’m actually in the process of rendering the turntable for this one; this is a still from the animation
A WIP image of a glass goblet I’m modeling, using some photos I took of a vintage glass goblet of mine as reference! I used the Spin Tool in Blender to get the basic shape, started getting the basic placement of the ruffles at the top with proportional editing, and now I’m using the sculpting brushes to get those details in (refining the ruffles and creases at the top of the glass). After I finish that part up, there are some floral elements I’ll be adding before I call it done
Here’s some concept art I made a while ago and recently revisited, depicting a hand-held weapon I designed! I wanted to rework/touch up the background some more before calling this one done
A render of my mirror 3D model! I used one of my illustrations of a mirror I designed for reference while I made this, along with the newest version of Blender. This project gave me a chance to practice sculpting and manually editing/refining my edge flows (to get the groove that the glass is sitting in). I might try texturing it later
I think I’m basically ready to call this one done! This is the model I’m making using one of my sketches of a mirror I designed as reference. I finished up the mesh, sculpted in some details using Blender’s built-in brushes, and tweaked the groove for the glass. I think this was the first time I had to manually edit/refine my edge flows for a mesh, so I could get the shape of the groove right. From there it was a matter of extruding those faces in and modeling the glass to go in it
Another quick WIP image of a prop I’m modeling, referencing one of my drawings of a mirror I designed as reference! I think I’m almost finished with the overall mesh, besides some final tweaks, and I added in the glass, the groove it sits in, and the details at the bottom. I’m pretty close to being done with this one
Here’s another quick WIP image of the dagger I’m modeling, using one of my pieces of concept art for reference! I’ve been experimenting with sculpting some, so adding the pearls will be one of the final touches before I call the mesh done
A piece of concept art I made, depicting my design of a stained glass scythe! This started with my pencil line art sketch. I took it into Photoshop and digitally painted it before layering scans of my traditional acrylic and gouache paintings
