Kayleigh was born to Rachel and Josh King, she has one older brother - Greyson King.

When she was five years old her parents were murdered. Leaving her under the care of her brother as well as the crescent pack. Everyone was there to help Greyson out with everything. The entire pack became her family and for the most part she didn’t feel like she didn’t have a family or lacked any love.

Kay grew up being a rather timid child. When her parents were murdered it took three years for her to speak again as she went silent as she processed the fact that her parents were forever gone. She had a tough time adjusting to the real reality and though her brother did his best she kept feeling like something was missing and their murder never being solved never sat well with her.

When she was five and since she had decided to go mute she was bullied often. She did her best to keep it away from Greyson because she understood he was also dealing with grief his own way which usually meant getting his fists involved.

Then in one instance she was being shoved between two teenagers that were gloating and taunting Kay about how her parents deserved to die and Kay did her best to walk away but Greyson overhead the comments and engaged in the fight. Kay was held back by a third party and she watched her brother accidentally kill one.

Knowing that she was the reason as to why her brother triggered his gene is a weight she hasn’t carried well. Witnessing his transition gave her nightmares and made her not want to do the same.

She turned to writing and fell in love with it. Soon she started her own blog about the events happening in town as well as investigating cold cases. Wanting to see if she could ever connect the person that killed her parents and get answers she needed.

During this time Greyson fell in love — actual love and Kay couldn’t be prouder. At the same time she was had her concerns because when the two were good they were good — but their jealousy issues tended to cause her to worry. She kept these concerns to herself and helped them with their wedding plans till the curse came into play.

She found herself moving around so that she would be able to stay close to her family. When news broke that Greyson’s fiancé had been killed she did her best to be there for him and for the pack as it was not till Hayley came with the cure that they were able to break the curse.

When the Jack decided to move the pack to McKinley — Kay was hesitate. She was tired of moving around and starting over. Not that she placed blame on everyone. At the end of the day she is loyal to her pack and her brother so she packed her bags and left the place that was home.

Leaving was hard for her because she felt that she was giving up on finding who was behind her parents murders.

Though she has told Greyson that she has let it go, Kay keeps touch with the local PD over there and with her knowledge as a criminal justice major and internships with law enforcement she’s been digging even more. Especially now that she has more tools to her disposal. She is working up the courage to tell Greyson she was to become a detective.

Go on now, look to your left and to your right. Is your secret worth your neighbor's life? No, no. Don’t try to leave – you can’t. See, we had this planned far ahead. As soon as you took your seats, you were spelled to them until you either sacrificed your neighbor's life or confessed a dark secret. You didn’t think this was going to be a cheery holiday dinner did you? There’s been far too many secrets and not enough lives falling victim for the abundance of supernatural beings here. One way or another, the night will end in our favor. Secrets or blood spilled - it’s your choice. So? Go on now, confess your secret or sacrifice your neighbor. We’ll be watching.

The woman didn’t know what was worse the damn pumpkin spice pickle or this. There were at least three people at the table that knew her, that probably wouldn’t drop the secret she would release. This would’ve been the perfect night to stay in her dorm and have a marathon of criminal minds, but no she had just had to force herself to be social didn’t she? Just like now, she had to force herself to give up one deep secret in order to spare her brother’s life as well as other innocent people around the table. As everyone started to spill secrets, she turned to her brother and looked at him, trying to locate any courage she had once held in reserve for this moment, “Sometimes — more often than not — I think I am glad our parents are not here. They would just be disappointed in who I turned out to be. That you did what you had to do.” She refers to the stupid fight Greyson had gotten, the one that had gone too far and forced him to trigger his gene. The one where once again little Kayleigh had been defenseless and required her older brother to come to rescue her. “I don’t think I could ever make them proud of me.” It wasn’t a secret she had wanted to share, but it was better than the other one she held for a rainy day.

“Pumpkin spice pickles?! Who’s in charge of the food here, I just want to talk.” She’d stick to the traditional kettle corn, Thanksgiving dinner meal and pies. But not pumpkin of course. “What in the world intrigued you to try pumpkin spice pickles, Kayleigh?” Scarlett asks with a laugh. “I’ve got some pumpkin spice beer if you wanna wash it down.” She jokes.

Her lips pressed upon each other as she did a gentle nod. Kayleigh was a believer in trying everything at least once. This was why she had managed to try a peanut butter cricket when she had been five years old, but no one else needed to know about that. “I have been inquiring about that because did you know dinner is assigned seating?” God, her small talk skills were in shambles and she didn’t think the couple hours in between were going to prepare her. “I might actually take you up on that. Maybe get to see if that drunken bravery thing plays with me.”

And oh, thank you,” She was feeling a little snug in it now she had devoured so much pie so she felt good to know she still looked nice. “Uh I wouldn’t know. i can’t really drink coffee. Being pregnant and all. But tell me how it tastes if you do get one,”

The woman gave a slight shrug before ordering her drink. What harm could it really do? If she was up the entire night she had the weekend to fix her clock. Or worst case scenario she would have to try the NyQuil trick that she heard so many people talking about. “Ah, congrats — “ that was the right thing to say right? The woman looked so young, almost as if she was the same age as herself. That thought terrified her cause she could barely keep herself alive she couldn’t think about a lil gremlin. “Do you know the sex of the baby?”

“Is it though?” It probably was. After all she heard it thrown around campus all the time but Kay had never been a huge fan of it. Perhaps it had something to do with the movie her brother had made her watch when she had been younger, Dude Where’s My Car? — the first time she realized that Ashton Kutcher was not it. Of course he cared about that. He was such a male. A chuckle though didn’t fail to fall from her lips followed with a shake of her head, “Is that so? So you’re telling me that you can win me any stuff animal I want here? Cause I have my eye on this giant dinosaur with a baseball cap I saw a couple booths down.”

It was rare for Stefanie to allow herself the moment to let loose. She was always so focused on trying to study. Trying to experiment. But here she was, drinking and letting a stranger have a dance. No one had mentioned assigned seatings or dancing — or had she missed that on the pamphlet? Lately, her attention was somewhere but where it needed to be. This was probably going to get her into trouble here real soon. Especially when it came to school work that she kept flirting with deadlines. As she waited for her Pepsi a woman came besides her, tilting her head back to the dance floor she shook her head, “I got two left feet — it won’t be pretty. Somehow I’ll cause everyone to fall.”

Holiday festivities weren’t usually his thing, and he normally wouldn’t have been caught dead at a festival swimming in vampires. Isaac was used to partying with the pack in the bayou, and their parties had a tendency to get a little more rowdy than this crowd, but after a few months in lock up? Well, this was a dream come true. The food alone was enough to entice him, and the options were almost overwhelming. “What do you think: turkey leg first or just go straight for dessert?”

The redheaded found herself going through the crowds of people tasting the food, knowing if she kept this up she was going to have no room whenever dinner kicked in. As she picked up another funnel cake she dipped it into her Nutella cup before walking right besides Isaac. She came to a full start to do a full turn, not believing that it was actually him. It felt like forever since she had last seen him, her lips tugged each end of her lips as she realized it was in fact him, “ — probably the turkey leg — but whatever you do avoid the pumpkin spice pickle. just —“ she shook her head side to side as she process the disgust all over again, “tonight I learned if it sounds strange it is.”

“I get one day off a month, I’m not going to use it to grade your paper that you handed in a month and a half early,” Jo stood in front of the student that had approached her outside one of the campus coffee huts. “Don’t students just go out and party anymore?” She chuckled, shaking her head as the student walked off. The brunette was far too in her own head today to be thinking about grading early papers - not with the influx of supernaturals there seemed to be around. For the first time in her life she was beginning to wonder if maybe she should- no…no, magic wasn’t an option. Not anymore.

She approached the bench she usually sat at to drink her morning coffee - the perfect spot in the cool almost-spring sunshine - to find it partially occupied by a stranger.

With her current obsession being everything but school Kay was put on high alert when she overheard a professor comment another’s work ethic. Once upon a time she had been on top of her things. Now she had a close intimate relationship with getting things done just before the deadline. She literally meant right before that deadline dropped. Just a couple of weeks she had turned in a full blown essay within 4 minutes before it was due. Now she was racking her entire head trying to make sure she hadn’t missed something. Quickly she made a mental note to check of any post its she had in her dorm. “No — go ahead,” she replied, as she moved her folders. Her current investigation regarding her mother’s murder seemed to be creeping in every corner of her life, “Enjoying the festival?”

“No, dude, you don’t get it,” Tyler started, head shaking at the idea that he would even have to explain this. “I’m not drunk for fun. I have a system.” God, he loved Thanksgiving. It was a day where he got to drink starting early and ended with food. What more could a man ask for? “If I start now, by the time the pie eating thing comes around, I’m obliterated. I eat so much when I’m drunk. I’m destined to win, it’s science.”

“Not a dude — but glad to see you got a system down,” she replied as she dipped her pretzel into her cheese dip. Usually she would be against eating so much but she figured that she would just chill out till Christmas came around, that was what? Almost an entire month in between. “I don’t think that is how it works — besides what is the prize for this pie contesting thing?” Kayleigh found herself more interested in that than she wanted to admit, “Also next time go wit bro, I prefer it.”

Noelle hated apple pie with a passion but here she was, piling away at her third piece. She didn’t care, enjoying herself and humming along. She was happy for once and she didn’t understand how things could be that good. She caught someone starting and she looked at them. “What?” She asked. | @sanguishqsstarters​

It was becoming rather clear that this town was not really into the fall season. She was holding out for hope that Christmas would be somewhat different. Kay had been debating for a couple of minutes as to whether she wanted to get another pumpkin chai tea or if she should chill out for the evening.. “Sorry,” she offered up quickly, “ I was having an internal debate and didn’t even realize I was staring — though that outfit does look amazing on you.” There she went, being herself. “By any chance do you know if Pumpkin Spice Chai lattes have a lot of caffeine in it?” She inquired seeing if she could get some help with her decision.

“No uh— this is actually my first one of these.” Tamer parties, compared to the more out there type events New Orleans was known for. “I like it though!” He hastened to defend, somewhat bashful. “I’m just not sure what I should do.” Nick admitted, wishing he had a better answer for his ‘standing around looking like a lurker’-ness. | @sanguishqsstarters​

Look at that there was at least one person that didn’t complete hate this festival. He was a damn unicorn but she decided not to blurt that random fact out. At least not for a while, “It isn’t that bad. The food selection though is a bit awkward,” she shared, thankful that she was able to run into someone that was a familiar face for her. “Have you thought about entering the pie eating contest?”

She hummed as she watched the children play, unable to help but smile fondly. She had always wanted to be a mother and had countless times over the years, turning some of her children when they became older - only with their permission. But she would never experience pregnancy herself and that dampened the mood a bit. “I hear there’s a dinner,” she said with a smile, “I wonder if the seating arrangements have been posted”

Kayleigh was already dreading dinner based on the food options she had managed to go through. Pumpkin spice pickles had been the last straw for the red headed. Then when she listened to the woman’s comment she found herself having a bigger fear unlocked — what if she was placed next to someone she didn’t know? Her small talk skills were not top notch, aside from her usual question which dealt with cheese she had nothing else to offer, “Are you telling me that this dinner is assigned seating?” God, she really needed to start reading the entire pamphlet to things from now on.

Well, her timing was never short of nothing but fantastic. Though, this wasn’t quite the celebrations she was used to. Fair rides, games and the like - Scarlett wasn’t surprised to find herself already going for a beer. Taking a sip, she nearly spit it out - “Pumpkin flavored beer. That’s… new. And disgusting. They really did take the whole pumpkin thing to a different level around here. Kayleigh was starting to wonder what dish hadn’t been made with some pumpkin here. Which left her kind of dreading whatever dinner they were going to have. As she wandered through the crowds she was glad to see somewhat of a familiar face, “If you think that is bad don’t go trying their pumpkin spice pickles — I made that mistake and now my stomach is warning me that it won’t be a pretty night tonight.”

As always, Josie always was the type to help prepare for these types of events. A smile displayed at their mouth, looking at the enterance of the festival with a sense of pride. Kayleigh had decided to step away from her computer today to be social. Not to mention she could probably get some inspiration regarding on what to write next. This town really did know how to throw a festival, all the colors and lights made her feel like she was lost in some retro movie or something like that. She took a couple steps to keep up with the brunette, “I am a sucker for ferris wheels, I am going to have to check that out. — I have also heard something about pumpkin spice.”
