Tanusha: A Blessing; Delicate; Special. Yeah, not much of a fan of the traditional girl’s names that my father liked. Most of them mean ‘sweet’ or ‘beautiful’... maybe I should have asked him what he would have named me if I’d been a boy? I don’t know. I like Kayo, because it’s unique to me. 

mulberry: earbuds or headphones?

"Kayo!" If there was a door to kick off the hinges, Bee probably would have done that, but as it is she stands on the other side of the room and practically gapes. "Girl, where the hell did you go for so many months?"

That means, of course, hey! I missed you! in Beatrix Hayes.

Kayo tries not to visibly jump from the sudden loud voice that cold only be Beatrix Hayes making an informal introduction. Honestly, she should have heard her coming in from miles away, but Bee had probably wrangled her way into a ride in on an incoming Thunderbird. Hopefully. If somebody had told her that Bee had done a halo-drop from space to get in, then she wouldn’t have been surprised.

“I could ask you the same thing! But let me guess: Classified information? Or have you just had a classified vacation?”

Bee probably had been on a lot of missions in interesting places since they’d last properly seen each other, but then so had Kayo. When you’re both living the same kind of unconventional secretive life, no matter how exciting or extraordinary, there’s an unspoken courtesy that happens where each person tries to suggest that their life is too boring to be worth talking about in any specific detail. That, and it was more fun to save the bragging games for when they were fun.    

“Me too. We just seem to have kept missing each other. I thought that things might somehow be different after, you know… but it’s just been rescue after rescue, same as usual. I guess the rest of the world hasn’t changed all that much.”

                          « ♥ »  —— There’s a soft hum as Bee settles down near her friend, listening intently. As wild as they are together, she always has time for the calmer moments between them.

“Only this island has had it’s world rocked, unfortunately.” She shrugs, glancing over to the desk for a moment and noting the absence of it’s regular resident. Silently, she’s glad. Jeff still makes her tense in some weird way and she’s yet to readjust to it- to him. “You got some spare time this afternoon or do you reckon you’ll be off again?”

“I think so, but there’s never any guarantee.” It had been one of those days where Kayo had woken up to find that she was (almost) alone in the house.
