it's weird how there's this perception of OCD as the "cleanliness" disorder where people still consider OCD behaviors to be like, rooted in some rational and correct (but overshot) trajectory toward objectively sanitary conditions, if that makes any sense? like there was a reddit post about somebody's roommate who had an extremely biohazardous room and a few commenters mentioned that OCD might be a factor based on her other behaviors, and a bunch of non-OCD-havers were like "what??? but it's objectively not clean??? there's so much bacteria in there???"

like idk how to tell you that the disorder gives you disordered thinking. disordered thinking is not rational. and there are absolutely things that trigger 1 person with OCD but do not matter to another, because your OCD can latch on to literally anything.

Reasons not to have your dog offleash at a public park:

1) roads (this one is self-explanatory)

2) it makes the park inaccessible to like, entire swathes of the population. If you have experience with police dogs or guard dogs in your neighborhood, or you're a new immigrant from somewhere with a large population of feral dogs, it sucks ass going to the park and having someone's massive lab bound up to you!

3) If, for example, you are in a protected wetland area plastered with friendly signs asking you to please leash your dog to avoid causing an ecological impact, having your dog offleash might cause an ecological impact! "Oh no, my dog is well-behaved, they would never bother the wildlife" wrong! your dog is in the pond trying to eat the endangered Blandings' turtles!

4) Non-zero chance of a jokerified park guide (me) just clipping your dog to a leash and stealing them

5) "Oh but my dog is sooo well-trained, there won't be any problems." Every dog owner who unleashes their dog is convinced of the same thing but almost all of them are wrong. I do not care to find out if your dog is the exception to the rule.

6) It doesn't fucking matter if your dog is well-trained and friendly. If it goes near an impulsive, unfriendly dog on a leash, there will be issues. And if it happens to stumble upon a boar with piglets or a scared horse etc, and you aren't close by, that dog is fucked.

a big part of my attachment to orange hephaestus flight suits is just that i find it the most visually interesting option, but there’s something about the carceral implications. when you have it acknowledged that goddard profits from prison labor enough that it’s practically in their introduction - whether your stay is of a scientific, exploratory, or disciplinary nature… - it does seem like something that would be. in line with cutter’s sense of humor. to have the image of orange jumpsuits as a science fiction standard and all the above-board trappings vs. what it visually signals to someone like eiffel, who is well aware he’s trading one prison for another.

I personally must either find a good candidate, somehow make one, or, most likely, take on the whole Mageslayer/King role myself.” Except he doesn’t have the first skillset, and his whole party keeps dying while these highly competent chucklefucks wander past, kill and eat the monster, and save their bodies for the nth time. Kabru would demand to know if Aragorn is familiar with Gondorin tax law. His isekai energy is off the charts, because this is all exactly what I would do if dropped into a fantasy quest adventure, right down to repeatedly dying due to not actually being suited to the genre conventions.
