We are starting to work with Aubrey on some basic literacy skills for her sophisticated life around the apartment. It has not been very successful so far. We are unsure if the problem is one of attention or perhaps a learning disability of some kind. Our policy has always been of early intervention so we're hoping that her skills will improve soon.
Aubrey was surprised and ashamed when we came in on her daily sink bath this morning. Unfortunately, she refused to yield her ground meaning that we had to wait several minutes to wash our hands. The incident highlighted the ordeals of sharing an apartment with housemates, particularly a cat.
The kitty saw her shadow this morning meaning (tragically) six more weeks until the beginning of spring at the apartment. It is a hallowed tradition that goes back centuries - if the cat sees her shadow it means that the humans have had to turn on a light because it is too dark outside meaning that winter will last longer. Or something like that anyway. The kitty is now worried that with spring ever further into the future she will feel the consequences, namely dejected humans moping about the house not wanting to go out because it is too cold outside. Luckily, the spring kitty prediction is generally considered unreliable, so it just may be a reality that she can avoid.
I'm glad someone in the apartment likes watching Greensky Bluegrass videos as much as I do (even if it's from upside down).
Addiction to technology has been a serious problem in our household - primarily because of the kitty. On the upside she doesn’t get in our way as much and only rarely complains when we are watching things on our computer or iPad instead of paying attention to her.
