You squinted as the guard moved off, letting you see the full glory of the morning light. Damn, they had you facing the sun too? They really wanted you dead and miserable.
"Lets go," the second guy rushed, attempting to get the horses and small coach ready. The animals were starting to twitch and you turned your head to see what was up. As you watched one of the horses back up with a whinny of protest you felt something brush past your face.
You weren't sure if it was a breeze or not. You blinked before the feeling of being touched trailed down your neck. Trying to turn back you found the light harsher than usual and your eyes were forced closed. The air was getting hotter, the touches now burning. It was hot. Burning. You felt more touches along your arms and dancing of your form, teasing your skin. So this was what it felt like to be roasted a live. You wanted to scream but your lungs felt heavy, the air far too thin.
"Whoa!" There was shouting happening, scrambling. The world itself seemed to be shaking. The light was loud like hearing an earthquake. Your body was shaking violently, the chains rattling in kind before something more solid finally hooked under your chin. You flinched and jerked back, causing you to fall back in a very ungraceful and painful heap.
Your eyes tried to opened but the world was blotchy, the brilliant blue of the sky littered with spots.
"You ask for safe passage and this is what you bring me as an offering?" Your whole body shuddered at the sound that assaulted your ears. That voice was many things. Playful, teasing, dangerous and held power.
What the fuck?
"The fuck is that?" One of the guards muttered as you blinked your vision back to normal.
You finally gained more awareness as you looked upon the… thing in front of you.
In many ways he looked like that fortune teller only he seemed to resemble the sun. You could feel the heat coming from him and light seemed to just… emminate from his body.
"You call on me in my own home and ask that?" The dark undertone was brought forward even as the mocking tone got stronger.
There was no way…
THERE WAS NO FUCKING WAY THAT THIS WAS A GOD!
The guards started muttering to themselves as you felt your anger mount. Was this whole thing a giant fucking pun and you were the tail end of the joke?
You felt your own fire rise in the heat and snarled which caught the deities attention.
It turned its opalescent eyes onto you and you felt your defiance rise. You had been told the gods weren't real, you were being fucking executed for treason because you just so happened to be involved with someone… you didn't even know was a god! It was all one big fucking conspiracy!
"Well," your voice dripped with venom as you forced yourself up off your back. "Excuse me. Sorry to be such a disappointment to you. Forgive my impending death for inconveniencing you."
Silence reigned after your guttural words.
There was a hearts beat before the god began to stride forward, the licking flames on his heels dulling, but not extinguishing. You felt the fine hairs raise on the back of your neck and goosebumps crawl down your arms.
Your face contorted into a glare to stare down the incoming threat. If you were going to die here, you were going down fighting. Of course you regretted being forced to your knees.
As the sun grew closer, it grew hotter. Odd how you could be on fire on the outside but a blizzard on the inside. Finally your neck was having to stretch to keep eye contact and damn was he tall.
You were so focused on glaring at him for all you were worth you didn't notice when his foot came and you were forced onto your back with a pained 'oof.' The pressure he was exerting on your ribs, and subsequently your bound hands, was nearly enough to make you cry out.
Nearly…
"You know what…" His ethereal voice sounded again, soft in tone but booming in its intensity up so close. "On second thought, I accept your offering. Safe travels friends."
Your uncle says to you "I'm the one who got your parents together. It was a hard dungeon raid and-". Your father interrupts "I HAD TO PERFORM SO MANY HEALINGS ON THIS MAN THAT I AM ON A FIRST NAME BASIS WITH THE GODDESS! THAT'S HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!"
