It's been a while!

Hello everyone! Just a Keffy update!

I know that it has been a while since I've posted but its honestly just because this past year has been hard (shocking I know lol) and my mental health and has not been the greatest

But Keff is perfectly happy and healthy!!

Hes still living his best life and we've even had to update his tank size a few times as well! He's a growing and happy snake. I will try to update more often but... no promises I'm so sorry.

Ahhhhhh we have over 600 followers and that's so rad!!!! Also I've officially been Keff's parent for over a year now and that's kinda amazing to me. Snakes are great💜💜🐍

What I show people at work when they ask me why they're called "ball" pythons:

One of the biggest problems in ball pythons is the laziness of educating new keepers

Id like to see more complete education going on within the ball python industry.

For example: Instead of "ball pythons are made of glass and will break all their bones if you give them something to climb"

Try this: "providing some low branches for your ball python will help build musculature and balance necessary for navigating these obstacles safely, and also help to stave off excess fat deposits which so frequently plague this species"

Instead of "lights are bad and will stress your ball python out" add more complete information: "if your ball python doesnt have the option to escape the light completely, it will become stressed"

Instead of "aspen is bad for ball pythons"

Fill in the gaps: "aspen is generally a poor choice for many keepers because it does not hold water, and for a tropical species like P. regius, having a high humidity is required or they begin to lose water with every breath. Plus its dusty which can cause respiratory issues."

I know I cause a lot of tension in groups because its seen as "nitpicking" but from my experience, helping a new keeper build a well rounded understanding of the WHYs and not just the HOWs of caring for these animals helps to combat the spread of misinformation and allows for better care of the animals.
