I do have a dream. Seeing you again.
LIFE UPDATE: MAJOR Hello, people of wordpress! Much has happened since my last post on September 2017. After a year and 4 months of hiatus, I think I'll try my luck again in writing on this blog.
A Day in Macau
A Day in Macau
This is day two of our 7-day stay in Hong Kong-Macau. Many tourists who go to Hong Kong also visit Macau since it is really easy to travel to. Dubbed as the Las Vegas of Asia with its numerous casinos, Macau also has other good sites to visit if you’re not really into casinos and gambling (like us!). For this day, I left the researching to Ralph and to say we had fun would be an understatement!…

This travel post is very close to my heart because it’s my first time to go out of the country! Ever since I started working, I have been daydreaming of adventures to go on during my vacation leaves, and traveling to another country was definitely on top of my list. At 24, I have never been out of our country, so you could see why I was itching to try something new. One day at work, I came across Cebu Pacific’s seat sale, and booked myself and Ralph tickets to Hong Kong. I didn’t even think about the logistics at that time because the tickets were for next year which was roughly 10 months before the flight. If you’re a close friend, I have shared with you the problem with Ralph’s passport application and all the shenanigans which could have ruined this trip. In the end, it all worked out and we got to go on this exciting trip.
We left for Hong Kong on the first flight out of Manila. There is no time difference between the two countries, and the flight took only about 2 hours. As usual, I am the planner of this trip. I had an itinerary planned for us, however, I was too lazy to sort out and research most of the details that we need to get to each tourist spot that we had to just wing it every day. Haha! Upon arriving HKIA, we bought octopus cards for 150 HKD and then had our breakfast at McDonald’s inside the airport. We then made our way to the Citybus parking area, and waited to board a double-decker bus bound for Sham Shui Po where we will be staying at.
Roast duck soup.
siew mai and fish balls.
Then here comes a funny story. We got out of the bus too early, so we totally got lost within an hour of being in Hong Kong! We tried contacting our host, however he couldn’t speak English consistently that there was no point explaining ourselves. After feeling helpless for a good 10 minutes, Ralph had this brilliant idea, he asked a random guy which was around 20s (I think) whom he thought could speak a little English and he asked him to talk to our host over the phone to give us the directions. The helpful guy then told us to follow him, so with my luggage in tow, we walked a few blocks until we reached the MTR station. He then pointed us to the station where we should get off and where our host will be waiting. We couldn’t thank the guy enough. Our host met us at the MTR station and showed us his place. We stayed at this quaint little apartment on the 7th floor of one of those tall buildings all over the city. Since it was our first day, we spent it familiarizing ourselves with the area where we were staying at and hunted for cheap food. We had our dinner at Tsim Sha Tsui, got our money exchanged to HK dollars at Chungking Mansions, and headed back to our airbnb and called it a night. We spent the next day in Macau, so stay tuned for my next post!

How To: El Nido Edition
How To: El Nido Edition
Pinagbuyutan island. (Tour B) Ever since I laid eyes on this town, I have been obsessed! With its crystal turquoise waters and majestic limestone formations, El Nido has got everything a backpacker will be happy to spend his budget on. El Nido remains to be one of the top destinations for tourists coming to the Philippines. And why not, when you can easily pass four to five days without running…

Long overdue post! This was one memorable trip for me because I traveled with my high school friends most of them I haven’t seen in a long time. We scored really cheap roundtrip tickets almost a year before this trip (thanks to Viber for the seamless communication) and saved big time on accommodation by sleeping in one of our friend’s apartment/pad in the city. We’re also lucky we had lots of friends in Cebu who are either working or studying there to tour us and give us tips on how to go around the places we wanted to visit in Southern Cebu.
Highlights of our trip to Cebu:
5) Osmeña Peak
The view at the peak is worth the 2-hour trip from the city. From the Dalaguete highway there are a number of habal-habal drivers who will take you at the registration area. Upon arrival at the registration area, the trek is about 10- 15 minutes. It was a really good view of Cebu, and the short trek was what I really liked about it since I’m not much of a hiker. This is where we started our South Cebu adventure.
4) Camotes Island caves and Santiago beach
I loved the place where we stayed for the night. Even though it was cheap, it had a lovely view of the bay. The day tour around the island was spent exploring and swimming inside the caves. Buho rock would be the most interesting, as it had the amazing view from the top and the diving board where you’ll actually dive/jump into the sea. I was too chickened out to try that. Boo, self! Haha. This is also where we got to eat the cheapest meal when I spent only 90Php for a brunch of calamares, sinuglaw, grilled fish, fish tinola and puso (rice in coconut leaves). Amazing, right?!
3) Kawasan and Aguinid Falls
Kawasan falls was a sight to behold. I could spend an entire day there just swimming. Aguinid falls was more of a challenge, since you’ll be climbing up the different levels. The water was cold and it was so much fun bathing under the falls. The entire afternoon we spent climbing Aguinid was tiring and exciting at the same time. Just enough to get us to sleep like babies afterwards.
Coming from Iligan, also known as the city of waterfalls, you’d think we’ve had enough of waterfalls. But no, I haven’t even been to Tinago falls since I was in preschool! Haha. I promised myself that whenever I have the chance to go home, I’ll definitely visit the city’s waterfalls.
2) Oslob Whalesharks
This one’s controversial. Many environmentalists have been asking the local government to stop this practice. I feel bad for patronizing this activity but I can’t deny that we actually had so much fun swimming with the gentle giants. Keyna, I-za and I were grinning the entire time we were underwater and seeing the whalesharks up close. We tried our best to follow the instructions like not to get too close to the whalesharks. The activity cost us 500Php for 30 minutes, the best 30 minutes we spent the entire trip to Cebu. Hopefully, they resolve the issue and find a better, more sustainable way of promoting the whalesharks soon.
1) Spending the time with my high school loves
What is truly the highlight of this trip would be getting to travel with my high school friends. I had such an amazing time catching up, eating lechon and traveling with my girls. Hoping for more travels with them soon!
love,
Keish

Bohol to celebrate our 6th!
What better place to celebrate our sixth year than at the beach, right? Since we love our country’s beaches so much, I planned a very chill vacation to one of the Philippines’ top destinations in the Visayas, Bohol island.Check out photos of our trip below! Waiting to board the fastcraft at the Cebu port. Onboard Oceanjet. Travel time is 2 hours. I already arranged for a countryside tour of Bohol…

You, me and the sea 🌊☀️
Good bye, Pa! You will always be remembered and loved. See you on the other side. 💋💋💋 (at The Heritage Memorial Park,Taguig)
See you on the other side, Pa
Today I gathered all the courage in the world to finally look at him, like that. As I was looking at his lifeless body, I remember how full of life he was, all the happy crazy memories I have with him. He was never the perfect father, hell he was far from perfect. I had a love-hate relationship with him and we got along just fine fighting and laughing at each other.
One thing about him is that family time was important to him. Hence the weekly trips to the beach, camping at tents and the road trips we took as a family. When I look back at my childhood I always smile because I had so much adventures and misadventures doing all sorts of bonding stuff with the family. He also has so many friends, from gradeschool until he joined the workforce that I couldn’t catch all their names and I’m sure each one of them has a crazy funny story of my Papa in each stage of his life.
Pa, I’ll always remember all the times you stood by me and was there for me at my school activities, gradeschool to college. Always late, but then you always arrived. The time you spent an entire week with me in Iligan because I didn’t have a single friend when I started high school but quietly left me so I can be independent and make friends. The times you annoy me so much and tell me I am so maarte to which i gladly replied with a meaner retort right back at you. The pass you gave me and demoted me to feeding the chickens when I wrote you a letter in grade 4 telling you and Mom how much I hated feeding the pigs because they looked like they were going to eat me. The lunches and dinners we prepared together, me doing the mise en place and you walking me through cooking my favorite beef steak step-by-step. The late night calls, the conversations we had about politics and you excitedly explaining to me events of the past. Us watching Fiddler On The Roof a million times and singing Sunrise, Sunset. I could go on, but then this post would be so long no one would bother reading until the end.
So Pa, know that you are well-loved and appreciated by your family and friends. We’re sorry we couldnt fight your monsters for you. You are strong for fighting them until the very end. Know that you have raised 4 wonderfully smart and strong independent (good looking) children who are influenced largely by your time in earth and who will take care of the love of your life, your Lobs, and our Mami. Enjoy your life with the Creator, Lolo Lito and all your friends up there. Rest well, Pa, we love you and see you on the other side.
Love your most maarte and hands down most beautiful daughter, Keish 💋
2015 Highlights
This post’s a little late, I know! But I can’t let 2016 ring in without looking back at 2015 and taking a moment to process all that’s happened! 2015 has been the most unassuming year I have ever had. So a quick roundup of what made 2015 awesome:
1) I AM FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT! I GOT A JOB(!) Yes hooray for paychecks! 👊🏼 At the last quarter of 2014 I did something I am still proud of: that is to have my training as a clinical dietitian without assurance of employment after. However in 2015, it paid off! 😊 It took more than 6 months of training and waiting, and part time work at a supermarket until it finally happened. On March 23rd of 2015 (i’ll never ever forget this day), I finally started working in PGH as a clinical dietitian! 🎉🎉🎉 My first assignment: OB and other wards! Then I got rotated to charity food service which is a different kind of story but I’m happy to say I survived! Haha. What’s sweeter is that Ralph also got a job the same week i started mine. How cool is that!
2) I GOT TO TRAVEL Every year it still amazes me how lucky I am to get to travel. Never have it crossed my mind that R and I would be able to go this year to hands down the best beaches in the world, El Nido. 😎 We went here twice in 2015, on May and November and we plan to go back again and again because it has become our favorite place. This is probably the highlight of my year. 🏝
On September, I got to go back to the mountain province, this time on a back-breaking trip to Baguio-Sagada-La Union with my high school friends! Even though it’s my second time in Sagada, it was only the first time for me to see the most famous Mt Kiltepan sunrise which did not disappoint! 🌄 Sleeping in a tent good for 4 small people but with 5 people on the foot of the mountain? Check! Swimming in cave waters colder than Timoga? Check! Surfing in La Union? Check! Ahhhh I had so much fun.
I also traveled to Puerto Princesa on a weekend in October and go island hopping in Honda Bay and lounging by the beach at Emerald Playa. The beach life >>>>> thug life. Hehe. Truly 2015 had me at the beach.
3) FAMILY AND FRIENDS Since graduating from college, it has become more difficult to set meetups with my buddies. 2015 gave me random trips to Enchanted Kingdom and a food trip in Binondo with high school friends, staycations in hotels with my college besties and food trips with my newfound squad at work. 😊 The last year made me realize that keeping friends may become harder, but then those friendships become stronger if you dont stop communicating. A huge thanks to viber, twitter and facebook for keeping me and friends connected 24/7. Hehe.
July was also a special month bc my sister finally completed her masters degree! How smart is she! Hehe. She later got engaged at Christmas. I truly loved spending the holidays with just our family. We did what normal families do, ate lunches together and my siblings and I bonded over beer and talked about what life has in store for us and where we would like to go next 😁😁😁 My mom setting all those gatherings and us, obliging wherever she wants us to go. Haha!
To 2015, you rocked! Thank you for the memories! 🎉🎉🎉 and HELLO, 2016!!!!!! No pressure but I’m hoping you will top 2015! 🎉🎉🎉

I hope 2016 brings me back to this paradise 🌴🌴🌴 #elnido
