Oslob, Philippines | 2016 Transformative moments in my life - swimming with whale sharks and my whole family. Back from CES and redoing the house with @bonetiredmama our kids have done away with their bunk beds and are actually in their own rooms. I feel like their childhood is quickly coming to a close. #whaleshark #shark #underwater #underwaterphotography #philippines #oslob #family #homeiswheretheheartis @sonyalpha

Sitting at the airport waiting for our flight in an hour and a half...thought I'd blog. So a quick update, I went on a weekend adventure with my friend/co-worker to the islands of Siquijor and Cebu. The photo above was taken yesterday. Woke up at 5 am to see this gentle giant. We were at the shore by 6 am, and swam with the whale sharks for 30 minutes but I think our boat extended a couple more because of the foreigners we were riding with. I tried so hard to get that shot but failed a lot of times as 1) i cant swim deeper because idk how to 2) the water was pulling us up, maybe it was too salty
I did say hi to one of the sharks. Got a good shot, though half of my body's above the water :)
I got pushed towards the shark by the boat man and I swam away faster than i swam my whole life because 1) it looked scary with its mouth open 2) i dont want to touch them because there's a 4m rule which I believe the guides themselves follow but im trying to be a good human, following the rules and all as they might be hurt
Overall, this was a good experience! Everything was in our favor. The weather? it wasn't raining, the sun's all out but it wasn't scorching hot..perfect timing!! The gentle giants were out and eating and didn't mind us swimming with them. There were no annoying people from other boats ruining our photos like what happened with my officemate's. The boatmen/guides we were with were nice and assisted us with trying to get pictures and videos. I want to be back!!
