My short term disability was never followed through with my work and yes I’m trying to reapply and everything but I can’t pay my physical therapy, bills, doctors appointments, prescriptions, or rent without something.     James was honestly worried about Kieth and the others. They had just  left, disappeared from Earth, “ I didn’t want to believe any of it. Kogane? Dead or missing? Please. You are a tough guy… ” he shrugged, smirking softly at the conversation. Some people didn’t even know who they were, and some  just didn’t…care? It was harsh, but it was the truth. James thought about  them a lot, curious to know what they were doing. Soon enough, he just had to move forward and work on his own self.

    “ So in short, no…I didn’t believe any of them. ” he snorted.

     He was happy to hear that he forgave him, and was ready to move forward. James was ready to move forward as well, and so, he smiled softly at his  words, “ I’m happy to hear that. I would love to move forward in our… relationship for the better, ” he shrugged his shoulders once more at his words about his actions here on Earth, “ Thank you. I tried hard and I’m still trying. You are a wonderful pilot yourself…you always have been, ” his cheeks heated up at his kind words though, “ Yeah, I think that would be…fun? I  would gladly take you up in the air again. ”

Keith snorted and nodded. “Tough guy, huh?” He teased, rolling his eyes at the tone. He had to admit; it felt good to know there was someone on Earth who thought about him when he was gone. Not quite like how Hunk, Lance, and Pidge who had family waiting, or even Shiro who had Adam. But it was still someone who remembered him, had some sort of faith that he was still out there. Borne of kindness or not, it was still something. “I’m glad there was someone left on planet who believed in me.” He snorted, sitting up properly and squatting to stand. 

Keith stood properly, hands on his hips as he looked James over properly again. “I’d like that too.” He admitted with a smile and nod. “Hell yeah.” He said in answer to the agreement. The compliment? Small touch of color to James’ cheeks? That he didn’t comment on, though by the way Keith felt his face heat up he knew he was blushing a bit himself. This almost felt like it had gone past just kind words, it almost felt flirtatious... almost. “Once I’m cleared to fly again I’ll take you up in Black. Show you how well a Lion of Voltron can dance.” He said with a toothy smile.

Keith clenched his fists and turned to Shiro. “No, I have everything to loose. You... You don’t understand.” He said, running a hand through his hair and sighing. “I can’t just... It’s more than you think, okay? It’s not how you think it is.” He said, crossing his arms and frowning. Shiro wouldn’t understand... He was perfect, and Keith was... Keith.

Keith choked on his coffee as Shiro spoke, working to clear the liquid from his throat. “Oh, sorry.” Keith sputtered, coughing and putting his cup down. “Shiro, this is James and Ryan. I’ve known them since school.” He said, nodding to the pair then turning to Shiro, eyes wide with surprise. He hadn’t thought Shiro would have taken him seriously with the offer to be his fake date to this stupid Christmas party.

“N-No one, Sir.” Keith breathed out, trying not to press down against Shiro’s fingers, legs shaking. Instead, he pushed up from the desk to stand properly, back still facing Shiro. As he stood, the snug pants slid from Keith’s knees to his ankles, leaving the man fully exposed from the waist down for Shiro. 

He wanted to turn, to look at Shiro and see if he was as composed as he sounded, but he didn’t want to make that hand move from where it was pressing and teasing. “What should my punishment be, Captain? I acted without orders...”

Shiro listened to words that Keith was giving him and storing them in his mental note. His ears also picked up the song that Keith was mentioning; also storing that into his memory. 

With the predatory look from his old friend, Shiro almost went weak in the knee. Thank goodness he wasn’t standing. But the challenge was there and Shiro was never one to back down on a fun dance.

“Oh no, I don’t think I have two left feet, but it’s not a pretty sight.” He defended himself before gulping the rest of his drink. Slightly taken aback from the intake, but managed to keep it down. Now, to dancing. 

Keith grinned, all teeth, and grabbed Shiro’s hands, tugging him out to the other bodies that were dancing in the small dance floor. It was close, barely an inch between the two as Keith started moving. The upbeat music was something that hinted to less dancing and more grinding, but Keith kept things... mostly PG-13. It was the first time he had seen Shiro in years, he didn’t want to scare the man off already. 

Seeing the red tint to Shiro’s face, Keith couldn’t help but laugh. He was... different. Scarred and changed but they both were. He couldn’t help but find the man cute, like when they were young... No. Not like when they were young. There was something about seeing Shiro now that lit a fire in Keith that he didn’t have when they were young.

ooc; I’m so sorry about being inactive guys. It’s been pretty rough recovery from my surgery but it’s just over a week since the surgery I’m feeling better and had to pull out my laptop to look up physical therapy and it was enough to push me to getting replies done! If I missed one don’t hesitate to send it to me and I’ll get right on it. Now I have to go email the person handling my leave from work and extend it by two weeks per my doctor RIP

    Kinkade hummed softly, “ Yes, they were fine. My mom and sisters found a good place to hide out on everything. My mom is quite the fighter, ” he  reassured the other. Kinkade was more than thankfully to hear they found a  way out, a place to hide and be safe.  He knew some weren’t as lucky as him, “ And, my father had long passed before all this happened, so don’t worry  about that. ” he spoke up, knowing he didn’t mention his father.

     The pilot shook his head a bit, “ No need to explain much to me. I understand. Though, I’m sure your team wouldn’t mind seeing a more…human side of you. A person who needs rest like everyone else. ”

Keith listened to Kinkade talk about his family and couldn’t help but smile. What had once been such a sore spot for Keith had become something very important to him. He liked hearing about other people’s families, especially now that he knew he had one of his own. “I bet you take after her a lot.” He said, glancing up to Kinkade with a smile. 

He didn’t know if Kinkade realized just what he said, but the more human comment made Keith chuckle bitterly. “It’s less that... more of a... We’re a team. Yes, we’re like a family but... It’s kind of like my job. My work is with them. I don’t... I don’t really like the idea of getting too... close to them like this. Makes for awkward working environments, y’know?”

     Arms were crossed over his chest, leaning back just a bit. A small laugh  came from his parted lips. It was a soft one, genuine one at that. He looked  back at Keith once he asked his question, “ The Garrison? Nothing much. It functioned pretty much the same. We were told you guys went missing, some spread rumors that you guys died. ” he shrugged his shoulders, although at his words shared, he couldn’t help but frown a bit.

     James wasn’t the nicest kid to Keith when they were younger, he knew that. In reality, he was kind to others, but to Keith he wasn’t. James wasn’t so sure  why he was so rude to him, calling him out the way he did. It was wrong, he  knew it was wrong. James felt bad for such a long time, hoping he could ask for forgiveness. Although now, those wounds he had made on Keith, he was sure they weren’t deep anymore. Still, he wanted to apologize. 

     He shook his head, “ It’s alright. I was pretty…nasty towards you. I’m sorry for those actions back then, ” his gaze was still dropped, feeling a little awkward now, “ Nothing about me…really changed? I just got older, matured  more, and busted my tail off to get where I am. ”

Keith listened to the speculated fate of the Paladins, and honestly he wasn’t surprised. They brushed Shiro under the rug so quickly he wasn’t surprised they did the same with the other Paladins. “Sometimes I thought we did too.” He admitted with a small laugh, shaking his head. They had seen and done so many things... sometimes it didn’t feel real. The amount of times they almost died too? “Did you believe any of the rumors? Or did you not care enough?” He teased, still looking up at the man from the floor. 

It was hard to believe they were so... casual with each other like they were now. He could certainly get used to it though. 

Keith shook his head at the apology. “We were kids. Sure, it was shitty, but we were like Reality TV Rivals. You were better with word banter than I was, and I hit you more times than I could remember. I’m sorry for not having a cooler head.” He said with a smile, trying to ease the air between them. “I have to admit, I’m impressed though. You’ve done... so much here. You’re an amazing Pilot.” He admitted, nodding to the man in respect. “The way you fly the MFE is something to behold. I’d love to fly with you again, something less... dire though.”
