TF2 Drabbles: Scout/Pyro - Felt So, So Nice

Summary: Flashfire fluff, Trans male scout, where scout surprisingly has wings (mom's side) a beautiful pair of (whatever color you want) wings,and he's been binding them and his chest, Pyro walks in and sees the wings when he goes to let them breathe a bit and they look horrible like he lost a fight with a wood chipper, So Pyro after Scout finishes freaking out helps with preening (because they preen Medic's doves) and after some time Scout falls asleep and after they finish Pyro decides to snuggle up and sleep also being wrapped in the wings

Pyro’s hands felt quite nice on his wings. They’d taken their gloves off for it, meaning it was their bare hands. Warm and pleasant, they seemed to be quite good at this whole preening thing. Which made sense, didn’t it? They preened Medic’s doves sometimes. That made this kind of weird though, didn’t it? Like Scout was a pet that needed to be groomed and taken care of. It felt so, so nice though.

What did Pyro’s hands look like? Scout had never seen any part of him before, had he? He always wore the fireproof suit, never taking it off where anyone else might see. The gloves were off now though so Scout could turn around and see what his hands looked like. And Pyro had officially seen his wings, was currently getting a really good look at them, so it wouldn’t be that weird to turn to look back at him, right?

Scout stayed exactly where he was though. His wings ached and Pyro’s hands as they cleaned them up felt nice. Moving would disturb that process. Maybe later he’d ask, make his chase about why Pyro seeing his wings meant it would be only fair if Scout got to see at least what Pyro’s hands looked like. Their face would be better of course, he’d been curious about it for a long while now, but now he was also curious about their hands. Later though. Right now he was too relaxed. No one had ever taken care of his wings like this before. If Pyro was willing, Scout would have to ask them to do this again in the future.

TF2 Drabbles: Scout & Heavy - New Soda

Summary: I can definitely see Scout making sure to check all the shops at each new base for local specialities (especially sodas). I wonder whether any mercs who get care packages from their families request their own local weird sodas for him? (Not that Siberia in 1967 probably had soda, though I don't know for certain.)

[A/N] Baikal is a Soviet alternative to Coca-Cola and, according to Wikipedia's History section on it, started production in 1969. So a bit late for the TF2 timeline and Heavy's sisters might have a hard time getting it and sending it via mail is a whole other beast all on its own, but upon googling 'Siberia soda' out of curiosity it came up and gave me this general idea. TF2 also contains wizards and teleporter technology so 100% historical accuracy isn't a thing here anyway so it's fine to break it a little more for this idea. ~

“Baikal?” Scout said again, getting a nod from Heavy, indicating he’d said it correctly this time.

“Yes, is new soda from back home. My sisters sent a pack to share with you. They know you like soda.”

Scout popped the tab and took a long drink. Fresh from the fridge, it was cold and refreshing “It’s good.” Not as good as Bonk but nothing was. “But uh… your sisters know about me?” Surely he’d misunderstood something there. Why would Heavy’s sisters know enough about him him to know he liked soda?

“Yes. I write them often and tell them about everyone.”

“Oh. That’s cool.” Scout took another drink to cover… whatever way that reveal made him feel. He’d known Heavy wrote to his sisters back home often but had never even considered he might feature in any of those letters. In hindsight, it made sense, he told Ma about everyone in what ways he could without revealing the whole ‘we’re all hired killers’ thing so it made sense the others might do the same. It was… neat though. Heavy’s sisters knew about him and that he liked soda. Maybe one day he’d get to meet them. That would be cool.

TF2 Drabbles: Red Scout/BLU Scout - Good Taste in Drinks

Summary: Think you could make a drabble of Scout (RED Scout) actually living up to his purpose as "God's gift to the ladies"; basically, just a "What if Scout was indeed great with girls" (no NSFW involved, just Scout actually being good at flirting with the ladies).

Flirting with the enemy team was a recipe for getting in trouble with the higher ups but Demo had been doing it for months now and hadn’t been caught yet so Scout was going to finally do it too because god damn he’d been wanting to since day one. Okay, maybe more like day two because there was nothing quite like getting one’s ass handed to them by someone that looked like the girl version of themself. Maybe it was a little vain but so what? He was hot too. They could be hot together. Now was the perfect time to finally take the leap because she was right there, loading her cart up with Bonk because she had good taste in drinks. … Mostly anyway, she preferred the blue stuff when everyone knew the red flavor was better. Those preferences lining up with their team colours was purely coincidental… probably.

Putting on his best confident smile and hottest swagger, Scout walked over. “Hey.”

BLU Scout looked up at him. “Yo.”

“After this,” because Scout was here to restock on Bonk too, “you wanna go get a bucket of chicken to share?”

She squinted up at him for a moment before straightening. “As a date?”

“Yep.”

“Uh, sure, why not?”

TF2 Drabbles: Pyro/Medic - More Efficient

Summary: Would you be willing to write some PyroMedic? Pyro being awesome and protecting his partner? Or anything with these two really.

Medic was perfectly capable of getting his own vengeance and taking out the enemy Spy himself but Pyro was more efficient at it than him. Also it was fun to watch him run while his invis-watch was still active, Pyro’s flames licking at his silhouette as they gave chase. Soon enough the flames caught more fully and the enemy Spy died screaming, collapsing into a writhing mound of flames on the ground.

As his screams died, the invis-watch’s power ran out or it took enough damage to cease being functional, letting Medic seen the burnt and charred corpse for a handful of seconds before Respawn took it. The smell lingered though, pungent and familiar.

Pyro looked up at him and said something rendered inaudible by the sounds of battle coupled with his gas mask muffling his voice. He lifted a hand in a thumbs up though, meaning it was probably something along the lines of, “Got him.”

“Danke, danke. Whatever would I do without you here to watch my back?” Probably die slightly more often to the enemy Spy in particular. “Let me get him next time though.” Fun as it was to watch the Spy burn, it was fun to get the kill himself too.

Pyro nodded his agreement, gesturing it with another thumbs up before turning away to return to the battle up front. Medic set the medi-beam on them to get it charging and followed.

TF2 Drabbles: Spy - Wasn't Going to Buy It

Summary: Making the mistake of buying a fragile souvenir early in the holiday and having to try to keep it intact.

The lamp was lovely and sophisticated but utterly unnecessary. Spy didn’t need it. He had plenty of various light sources already, one more wasn’t necessary even if it did look nice. Lugging it around for the rest of the vacation would be too much of a hassle. If he broke it, it would be a waste of money. He could probably find something similar in one of the antique stores closer to where this trip would end. Maybe he’d even find something better.

Squaring his shoulders, he turned his head and walked away. There was other, less fragile antiques to look at and consider instead. He did not need the lamp and thus wasn’t going to buy it.

A Few Hours Later

The lamp didn’t match the rest of the hotel’s décor but that was fine. It would match Spy’s décor at home once he got it there. … More like if he got it there, huh? Because how the hell was he going to keep the thing intact until then? Problems for future him to figure out. For now he had a cool new antique lamp to admire.

TF2 Drabbles: Heavy & Scout & Soldier - How You Get Rabies

Summary: I like the idea of soldier being a big animal person too, kinda want to see soldier and scout chilling when scout being the equivalent of a Disney princess, with wild animals willingly surrounded him

Somehow the hunt for Big Foot had turned into making friends with the local raccoon population instead. Expected behavior from Soldier, him not doing so in fact would’ve been odd. Heavy had expected better from Scout though. Which in hindsight was probably less than wise.

“Look,” Scout whisper shouted as he successfully managed to coax one of the raccoons to climb up onto his shoulder with a bit of food. “They like me!”

“Good job, private!” Soldier had two raccoons on him, one on his shoulder, the other on his head.

“This how you get rabies.” Not that Heavy was particularly concerned about that with Medic on call but still, it was the principle of the matter. And going back to base to get one or both of them treated for rabies would delay the Big Foot hunt even longer.

“I already have rabies,” Soldier countered. Knowing him, that wasn’t unlikely. He of all people would be able to live with such a disease.

“Also,” Scout said, petting his raccoon shoulder buddy, “their body temperature’s like too high or uh… was it low for rabies anyway. So we’re fine.”

“Is different animal.” Heavy couldn’t recall the name of it in English currently but it wasn’t raccoons. “The ones with pouches. They play dead.”

“Opossums,” Sniper supplied as he stepped back into the clearing. “Raccoons are actually known for carrying rabies, I think. So you probably shouldn’t mess with them so much.”

“Nah, we’re fine.” Scout brushed the worry off with a dismissive hand wave.

“Getting rabies builds character,” Soldier said. “You should try it some time.”

This outing wasn’t going to end with Heavy wrestling Big Foot to the ground, was it? Instead they would likely be rushing back to base to get medical attention for one or both of these idiots. In hindsight, there was no other way this hunt could’ve gone. Oh well, at least he was still getting some outdoors time.

TF2 Drabbles: Scout - Part of Home

Summary: Getting excited for a restaurant which then turns out to not exist any more.

It was good to be back in not just America but specifically Boston. Not that Scout begrudged the opportunities to see different places around the world but there was truly no place like home. Especially since no place other than home had burgers as good as Joshie’s Burger Palace. It had been way too long. He was about ready to sprint the rest of the way there upon rounding the corner but… slowed to a stop instead.

Across the street where the sign for Joshie’s Burger Palace was supposed to be was instead an entirely different sign. A yellow arch with the word ‘McDonald’s’ under it. The building looked different too. Repainted and at the top, over the doors, was a repeat of what the establishment was supposedly called; ‘McDonald’s’.

This was the place though, wasn’t it? Scout had walked down this way many, many times. It had been his go-to spot after school. It had been cheap and damn good food and now it was… gone? Surely there had to be a mistake. Maybe they’d moved to a different building or Scout did have the wrong spot. He’d been out of the country for a while now so maybe his memory was a little bit off.

He sprinted the rest of the way over, intending to run in and ask questions. A young fellow exited as he neared though. Skidding to a halt, Scout waved at him, catching his attention. “Hey pal, I’ve been out of town for a bit. Didn’t this place used to be Joshie’s Burger Palace? They move or something?”

“Oh uh, nah, Joshie died of a heart attack like a year ago. McDonald’s moved in a couple months afterwards.”

“Damn. That sucks.” An understatement. Scout had known Joshie for so long, the thought that he’d just up and died hadn’t felt possible. And so long ago too. He’d been dead this whole time and Scout had had no idea.

“Yeah, it’s a real bummer. Food’s still pretty decent though. Or at least I like it.” With a shrug he got walking again, moving on.

Scout watched him go for a couple moments before turning back to the McDonald’s. He’d been looking forward to his usual for so long. Joshie’s Burger Palace had felt like part of home. It and Joshie himself being gone so suddenly really truly was a bummer. The world needed to stop moving so fast when Scout wasn’t looking at it.

With a sigh, he got moving again too, heading inside. He was hungry and had come here with the intent to eat, hopefully the food would indeed still be good.

TF2 Drabbles: Engie/Pauling - It Don't Bite

Summary: Could I request some Pauling/Engineer? Maybe them just being cute idk

It still looked somewhat like a sourdough starter and could’ve easily been mistaken for being unchanged right up until Pauling leaned in for a better look and it moved. It pressed itself up against the side of the glass jar as if trying to get to her. Not an obvious lunge or attempt to attack though, seemingly just trying to get closer. Maybe it was observing her the same way she was observing it?

“Is it dangerous?” She had to ask because the bread monsters certainly were. The point of this experiment had been to see if bread related things reacted the same way to being teleported around as normal bread did.

“It don’t bite,” Engie replied. “Whether that’s ‘cause it can’t or don’t want to, I don’t know. And so far it’s not been aggressive. Teleporting it around ‘til it’s real big might change things though, can’t know ‘less we try.”

“Maybe don’t do that quite yet.” They’d just finished cleaning up the mess made by the big bread monster Soldier had inadvertently created like a week ago. The paperwork in particular had been a pain in the ass for Pauling. It was too soon to potentially deal with all that nonsense again. “Have you tried making sourdough bread with it yet?” That seemed the next logical step to her. To see if it would create a different kind of monster or perhaps just make normal bread or probably more likely something inedible that resembled bread.

“Huh? Not yet. That’s a damn good idea though.”

TF2 Drabbles: Heavy & Scout - Tastes Like Poison

Summary: Character A finds a cool new food to try, Character B is intrigued too… and Character A's brain goes, "SHARED INTEREST YAY! / I CAN INTRODUCE THEM TO SO MUCH COOL STUFF YAY!", cue finding every unusual food and drink (or at least ones with unusual flavourings) in the area which Character B hasn't tried before, until Character B gets a bit overwhelmed and has to ask Character A to stop.

The pickle flavored soda had been interesting and surprisingly pretty good but every other novelty flavored soda Scout had brought back and given to Heavy to try had been increasingly terrible. This ‘bacon and eggs’ flavor was a new low.

Heavy placed the bottle back onto the table. “Tastes like poison.” And he would know because some of Medic’s experiments on him included making him immune to various poisons and thus he’d needed to consume them to test it.

“Oh?” Scout picked up the bottle and took a big swig of it. “Hmm… I kind like that one.” Seems all that Bonk he drank had ruined his taste buds. “What about this one?” He reached down to pull another glass bottle out of his cooler to hand to Heavy.

Squinting at it, Heavy held it up where he could read the label. The stylized lettering made it a bit difficult but the graphic of the shrimp underneath it made reading it unnecessary. Shrimp was a perfectly fine food on its own or in various dishes but why would anyone think to make it a soda flavor? How would one even go about distilling the flavor of shrimp into something that could be used to flavor things in general? Was it even safe to do so?

“No.” He handed the bottle back. “Too much, too far.”

“I’m sure it’s not that bad.” Scout pulled the bottle opener over and popped the lid off. The hiss it let out came accompanied with a vaguely fishy smell that was strong enough to make its way all the over to Heavy. If not for the advertised shrimp flavoring he would’ve assumed the soda had gone bad. Despite that Scout took a swig without hesitation. He looked thoughtful as he lowered it, smacking his lips. “Okay uh… maybe this one is crossing the line a little bit. You sure you don’t want to try it?” He held it up in offer once more.

Heavy had to lean back from it as it being closer made the smell stronger. “I’m sure. Bring back pickle flavor. That one good.”

“Fair.” Despite having just said he didn’t like, Scout took another drink of the shrimp soda. “I’ll stock up on the pickle soda next time I go.”

TF2 Drabbles: RED Medic/BLU Medic - Deserved To

Summary: I want a Medicest tooth rotting fluff. Like they were just finished fighting in the matches. And they are cuddling. And Blu Medic is the big spoon.

Ludwig was awake but not particularly inclined to get out of bed. The warm solid weight of Fritz was still pressed against his back. Asleep, his breathing was deep and slow, soothing.

As long as he was quiet, Ludwig could extricate himself without waking him. He’d always been a heavy sleeper so it wouldn’t even be hard. There was stuff that needed doing, experiments in the lab fridge to check on and the birds’ feeding time was still an hour or so away but still soon, so Ludwig should get up. … Or he could continue to lie here for a little while longer.

When was the last time he’d slept in? … He couldn’t recall, a long time ago for sure. Maybe he deserved to just this once. None of the things that needed doing were urgent and Fritz would likely waken soon too. Rarely did either of them sleep longer than the other. So they could get up together. Until then he could stay here, warm and cozy.

TF2 Drabbles: Engie/Demo/Pyro - Because It's Cool

Summary: Characters spontaneously decide to go and look at an interesting thing which is up a lot of steps, then realise that they have to either go back down all those (icy) steps or try to find a less perilous way down... cue over an hour of wandering around and trying not to fall over.

Demo glared down at the stairs as if that might somehow make them less of a problem. Coming up here had been a mistake, one Engie should’ve known not to make and had been hesitant to but Demo, backed by Pyro, had been insistent that it would be fine and thus worth the effort. They were somewhat correct in that the view from atop the old castle’s battlements of the area around Coldfront’s base was indeed gorgeous. It had felt worth it right up until it became time to head back down.

Engie’s legs still burned with the effort of the climb. The cold air, turning his breath into mist, only served to sap his strength further. He’d never been a fan of the cold. It was still fairly early in the day though so they didn’t have to worry too much about the sun setting anytime soon. A pretty big blessing in the grand scheme of things.

Pyro sat on the top stair and put his head in his hands. How he’d gotten up here with that dang suit on was a mystery but he always seemed to get around just fine it. Without it he’d probably have been just fine to head back down.

“You think there might be another way down?” Demo asked as he shifted his gaze onto Engie. “One with less ice and whatnot.”

Engie shrugged. “Could be.” Though if there was such a way down it would likely be on the further side of the castle, putting them further away from base. Meaning the trek back to it would likely be worse than just taking the steep icy stairs back down.

“Why even build a bloody castle atop a mountain? Especially one this big?”

“Because it’s cool,” Pyro chimed in, kicking their legs. “I like it.”

Demo huffed. “Yeah, I guess. I’m gonna go look for other ways down.”

“Holler if you find something,” Engie said as he sat down next to Pyro. If push came to shove they could just rest up here for a little while before heading down. They’d be late for lunch if they did that but they were probably gonna be a bit late no matter what anyway.

TF2 Drabbles: Sniper & Scout - That Damn Fish Again

Summary: Make Scout and Sniper get into a physical fight, thats the request

How the BLU Scout managed to get all the way up here without Sniper or anyone else spotting and stopping him was mystery. But here he was, fish in hand. Too close to properly aim the sniper rifle, Sniper drew his own melee weapon, barely dodging the BLU Scout’s first swing as he did so. He was not dying to that damn fish again.

One trip through Respawn later

“Got killed by the fish again, huh?” RED Scout had seemingly been waiting right on the other side of the Respawn doors just to taunt him.

Sniper didn’t dignify his nonsense with a response as he continued past him and back towards the battlefield.

Scout fell in step with him. “Look man, I’m telling you, you gotta bring your own fish to the fight. That’s the only way it’s a fair duel.” He pulled out his own fish as an example.

“Are you two teaming up with this fish thing?” The two of them had started using the fish at the same time as far as Sniper could tell. “What are you trying to accomplish?”

“Nothing! And we’re not teaming up. I’ve never spoke to him in my whole life, honest. But it would be fun if everyone starting use fish as melee weapons and you know it. Pyro started to do it too so join us, you know you want to and like I said, it’s the only way to make it a fair duel.” He and the BLU Scout were totally in league then, huh? Why was a mystery Sniper didn’t care enough about to dig into right now. He was not going to stoop to carrying a dead fish around in his back pocket though.

TF2 Drabbles: Pauling & Team - Soft Spot for Knickknacks

Summary: One character is ill (chronic illness flare-up?) all through a holiday and can't leave the hotel room (hopefully the other(s) can take loads of photos even in the 1960s/70s, as well as bringing back souvenirs).

Having nothing to do grated against Pauling's every instinct. For years she’d been kept busy, rarely given a proper break and the ones she did take had been a day at most. She’d liked it that way. Such was no longer her life though. The Administrator was dead and her ambitions that Pauling had worked so hard to achieve, had proven to be meaningless in the end. Leaving her with far too much time on her hands. Enough that she’d had no reason to decline the invitation to join the boys plus Zhanna on their vacation.

Except she was sick now too, leaving her lying on the bed in the hotel, staring up at the ceiling and feeling bad. Physically and mentally. She’d been getting sick more often lately. All the years of near non-stop work catching up to her according to Medic. He knew what he was talking about too both as a doctor and a hypocrite who did the same exact thing. Meaning Pauling should take more breaks to circumvent more such misery in the future.

What did people who took frequent breaks even do though? How was she supposed to live her life if it wasn’t focused on work? Did any of it even matter anymore? She’d work so hard for the Administrator for so long, believing her end goal would be something massive, something worth doing. It hadn’t been though and now she was dead and Pauling was adrift in the sea of life. Adrift and sick on top of that. Ugh.

With a groan, she rolled over to check the clock on the wall. It was getting late. The boys would probably be back soon. Hopefully they at least had fun. If she was lucky they would come into her room and tell her about their first day. Hopefully tomorrow she’d feel well enough to join them otherwise what was even the point in her being here?

They might go out drinking though and/or go straight to their rooms upon returning. Which meant she shouldn’t lie here, waiting for them. In fact, she’d probably be better off just assuming that they…

A knock sounded on her door. It was loud and forceful.

“Come in.” Her voice croaked a little but it was strong enough to be heard through the door.

It opened and in marched Zhanna. “We took photographs. Lots.”

Everyone else flooded in behind her, quickly filling the room. “We haven’t had time to develop them yet,” Demo said,” but I’m sure we’ll find someplace for that sooner than later.”

“In the meantime we also bought some cool souvenirs,” Scout added.

“Overpriced tat, mostly,” Spy said. “But sure, I suppose some of it isn’t as bad as the rest.”

Carefully, Pauling sat up. “Cheesy tourist stuff is fun.” She’d always had a bit of a soft spot for knickknacks. And there would be photos to look at later. Knowing this group, very few of those photos would be the standard tourist affair. She was looking forward to seeing them. Hopefully tomorrow she would be able to go out with them but at least for now, they’d come back to show her stuff.

TF2 Drabbles: Spy - Prefer a Bed to Myself

Summary: Not Enough Beds, but one character consistently finds/improvises something else to sleep on rather than share.

The motel was dingy and awful all by itself but the added horror of there being only two rooms available – totaling three beds as only one room had two – to split between all nine of them was the final nail in the coffin for it earning the title of Spy’s least favorite place on Earth. Sniper, as always, claimed the camper van’s bed first. A claim Spy couldn’t contest as the van belonged to Sniper. Unlike last time they’d encountered such a problem, other accommodations were unfortunately not available.

“You can sleep with me and Engie,” Pyro volunteered with a raised hand. “I don’t mind sleeping at the foot of it.”

“Thanks, but no. It’d still be far too crowded.”

“Ooh, ooh, I will take you up that,” Scout said, drawing Spy’s attention to the room’s entrance as he reentered it. “Soldier gets cuddly when he sleeps and it’s about a fifty/fifty on whether he ends up cuddling me or Demo and it’s weird.”

Soldier marched in behind him, wearing pajamas that were a size or two too small. “There is nothing weird about cuddling, maggot. It might even save your life one day. If you’re really such a coward though…” he approached Spy and clapped him on the shoulder hard enough to hurt a little, “you, sir, can join us instead. I promise I will keep you warm in the dead of night.”

Spy grabbed his hand and moved it off his shoulder. “No thanks. I would prefer a bed to myself.”

Engie, already seated on one of the beds scoffed. “Unless ya mean to break into someone’s home and sleep in their guest bed, I don’t think that’s gonna happen tonight.”

“Hmm… that’s not a bad idea actually.” Chances of anyone having a nice guest room in this wretched little town were low but anything was better than sharing a bed with two other people in this dirty motel.

Engie raised an eyebrow. “Well, I suppose long as you don’t get caught, it’s fine.”

“I assure you, that won’t be problem.” To prove his point and for dramatic effect, he activated his invis-watch.

Scout made a wordless noise of exaggerated disgust and disapproval. “Fucking asshole.” He was jealous that Spy would have his own bed tonight while he had to share.

TF2 Drabbles: Scout - Stupid Like That

Summary: Replying to a relative's letter after far too long.

The letter was still there on Scout’s desk, held in place by the snow globe paper weight Ma had gotten him for Christmas the prior year. Next to it, its corner under that same snow globe paper weight, was the reply. Bereft of words other than the opening, it was a constant reminder of his inability to just sit down and write a simple letter. … Or no, not constant, as soon as he left the room he’d forget about it again. Out of sight, out of mind.

Gritting his teeth, he sat down and pulled it over. He knew what he wanted to say so it shouldn’t be so hard. Words, writing and reading, always were though. He was stupid like that.

Rooting around in the desk drawers eventually produced a pencil. Broken and unusable. With a sigh, he continued searching. He had a sharpener somewhere, right? Where? Had he taken it out? Forgotten it elsewhere?

The drawers were mostly full of papers. Other letters, only some of them replied to, and loose paper he’d sketched or intended to sketch on. Another thing he’d been meaning to do for a while was organize it but of course still hadn’t gotten to. Leaving him with no choice but to search through it until he found a pen. Pulling it out, he scribbled on one of those loose pieces of paper. … Dead and dry, it left not even a single ink mark on the page. How long had it been in there for? Probably ages.

With a groan, Scout slammed the drawer closed once more before standing. He’d borrow a pen or pencil from someone and then answer the letter later tonight. And then tomorrow he’d clean up his desk. For now though, he had better things to do. The reply was already late after all and it wasn’t like he could immediately send it off anyway. So really what harm was putting off writing it just a little longer do?
