I was tired so I got in bed early, at like 10:45. It’s now 1:15 AM.

I love seeing the ads during the Olympics that feature athletes. Unlike a football or basketball player, most of these people have spent their whole lives becoming the best at what they do but there’s no track for making it a career. So when I see them in commercials for Visa or whatever, I’m like hell yeah, make your money, babies!

Hey tumblr, it’s my birthday.

I’ve really slacked off posting much on here lately. Honestly, I keep this tumblr as a diary more than anything, and I ended up cutting out the middleman earlier this year when I started keeping a real diary in a Google doc. And I also get distracted from tumblr by reddit and tiktok a lot these days too. I heard something about them trying to start paid posts on here now? Good luck with that. Maybe if you’d tried it before you (sort of) banned porn.

Anyway, it’s my birthday which I decided warranted a post. I’m 44 today. I’m not thrilled about it, even taking into account that I’m well past the age of being excited by any birthday. 43 was supposed to be a better year than this, due to that number being historically significant for me, but it wasn’t. I didn’t get skinny, didn’t move my life forward in any meaningful way, and it’s pretty much all my fault.

As of about 10 days ago, my little brother is now a father, so both my younger siblings have kids now. I’m happy for them, a smidge sad for me. But honestly, I think the aunt life suits me better. If I had to step up to be a parent I probably could, but that life choice has pretty much passed me by now. I really enjoy helping and I do a lot of it, especially with my niece, but it’s nice to know it’s someone else’s job to get up in the middle of the night.
