Big fans of eco-sustainable, gender-neutral clothing line Older Brother, we had so much fun shooting pieces from their Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Dyed with the superfood mushrooms reishi and chaga, we thought what better backdrop than a mushroom farm?
Northern California’s Far West Fungi, on the shore of Monterey Bay, generously provided the perfect spot — shipping container grow rooms that sparkled with shelves of blooming reishi, yellow oysters, wood ear, and lion’s mane. We arrived, quickly toured, and were handed a small box — inside was a beautiful fungi cornucopia from which we fashioned boutonnieres out of just-harvested mushrooms including tree oysters in pinks and greys, criminis, king trumpets, shiitakes, and shimejis.
