The Conclusion of the renewal of Northshore:
Family Campground + Stilt House onto Brisbane River + Love Lock Bridge
= The innovative Northshore which contain the recreational (camping) + romantic + stay overnight elements
For the estimation of the budget allocation: (Suppose the client provide us the maximum 70000 AUD)
we would like to put 90% of the budget for building the stilt House onto the Brisbane River since the it would be the most expensive item. And the lowest budget allocation is set up the family campground at Northshore Parkland because it would not too costly.
My inspiration of the whole creative concept: Tai O Fishing Village, Hong Kong.
very impressive by the fishing village and all of the house are built onto the sea. It is kind of similar to Northshore as it used to be a fishing port in history (a short period)

Comparing to the existing campground in Australia:
There are many kind of campsite which nearby the wildlife and the nature such as the North Stradbroke Island, but there are not too many family campground which is nearby the city for the young family and teenagers. With this in mind, we would like to make a family campground which is nearby the city in Northshore Parkland as I mentioned in previous post. Some of the visitors and local resident would like to camping nearby the city since it is much safe. It is different from the traditional camping habit and worthy to try since it is not too costly to set up a family campground.

Comparing with the existing project and how similar and different of it:
As I mentioned before, my inspiration of building a love lock Bridge is come from the Pont des Arts, Paris. Obviously, the function of the Northshore love lock bridge is totally same with the Paris one. Of course, the difference of our bridge is we would like to rent the bridge empty for the couple such as 100AUD for 1year, 150AUD for 5years and 200AUD for permanent. It is totally a commercial purpose in order to earn some money to recover the cost of developing the Northshore.

Comparing with existing project and the different to it:
As I mentioned before, my inspiration of building stilt houses onto the Brisbane River is come from the Tai O, Hong Kong. The stilt house built by the Tai O local residents and the visitors have no chance to go inside of these house. Fortunately, one of my friend is a Tai O local resident, so I am able to stay overnight in it. With this in mind, the different of the Tai O between Northshore is we will provide the stilt house for the visitors and anyone who want to stay overnight in it.

The whole plan of the Northshore:
The triple steps on my creative concepts and all of my expected targets within this project. Of course, these 3 steps are not the destination of renewing Northshore. There are many many ongoing works afterward.
Continue processing:
Community building is a crucial work in practicing the creative placemaking. Certainly, it is a ongoing work and easily lose its joy. With this in mind, keep building series of the landmark is really important. As my sketch last post, there are a bridge to connect the campsite and the stilt house onto the water. It could be a good idea to develop the romantic side of Northshore by creating a bridge within limited budget like love lock bridge, Pont des Art. A good concept to engage the visitors and place and making a ongoing process of community building.

According to my roughly sketch, it shows my preference of both the family campsite area and the stilt house onto the river’s zone. Indeed, as we have a limited budget (approximately 40000-70000 AUD), we cannot develop too much on it. However, it still available to promote the Brisbane’s reputation as “River City”.
My inspiration and concept of building a little bit stilt house and hut onto the Brisbane River for weekend gathering and family day purposes are inspired by a famous Hong Kong travelling point, the “Eastern Venice” - Tai O. There is a really natural, sustainable and historical view point. Many local and international visitors would like to visit there every year. It can be respond the EDQ’s one of the highlighted interest, tourism as well.

My creative concept is not only to set up a completely family camping site, but also to build some hut/stilt House (For visitors/family day to stay overnight ) onto the Brisbane River and near the “future family campsite”. Obviously, it is in order to deliver an immersive experience and underscore Brisbane’s reputation as a “River City”.

Why choosing family Campsite?
In responding to the EDQ’s preferred target audience, kind of the target audiences are teenagers family, young professional and some other destination visitors like international visitors. It’s all about the active and engaging between the people and the campsite destination (Riverside Parkland). Also, it could be enhanced the cultural diversity between the international and local camping lovers especially the camping culture. The Eat Street Parking area near the campsite is also convenience for the target audience to reach the destination.

According to QueenslandCamping website, it is hardly to find a good family campsite in Brisbane. With this in mind, set up a completely family campsite in Northshore new riverside destination recreational parkland could be a wise choice to attract more and more people to visit north sore and to engage in this place.

According to Tom Borrup, the creative placemaking is based on the local human, physical and its process is building on historical trajectory of the place and full of the historical background. With this in mind, the aboriginal people life style such as campground in the past are really represented Tom’s creative placemaking concept. The family campground is a quite suitable idea for the riverside area since it is full of historical elements.

I prefer the family campground design is in order to take a balance within the Northshore history, EDQ’s target and the sustainability of the place.
The campground has a good “production of space” which including perceived, physical, conceived and also everyday life experience ( as I known there is many camps from aboriginal people before the European arrived
