Between Departing and Arriving
An exhibition of the works created during a month-long residency in Fukuoka, Japan.
May, 2016.
Artist BertaBlanca T.Ivanow did 3 pieces interpreting our new shoes.
Born during the Olympic year in Barcelona, BertaBlanca T.Ivanow developed her painting and sculpture between London and New York under the guidance of abstract painter Pat Lipsky. Her paintings display surges of colours in intuitive strokes free of figurative references that remind us of the artistic style of ‘Les Fauves’. The result of her works being linked to the abstraction of classical music and how it connects to her inner feelings.
Her sculpture explores the dialog between emptiness and totality within infinite space. Resulting in androgynous figures with human qualities evoking fertile silence, repressed emotion and eternity. All of her work keeps a close dialogue with tradition, always considering where we come from, where we are and where we are headed.
