Alice had managed to sneak away from the thick of all the homecoming excitement at the game, leaning against the brick wall of the sporting stadium as she brought the cigarette to her lips, taking a long draw and watching as the smome billowed around her. She really should be with her fellow cheerleaders, getting the crowd even more excited for the game but instead, she found herself slipping away, looking for a moment of reprieve from it all. “Yes, even cheerleader need a break from homecoming.” She answered bluntly to the person approaching her as she took another drag of the cigarette.
Despite all the preparations that had been set in place to ensure that everyone took their minds off of everything that had happened recently, Jackson couldn’t bring himself to have any fun. Not like that could stop him from drinking. Drinking was the only way he was going to make it through all the homecoming festivities. That or he could just skip all of it altogether. It would be so easy to just slip away into the darkness of the night and go unnoticed until the weekend was done and over with. If only he could be so lucky. “You know, those things will kill you.” He motioned his head towards the cancer stick between her fingers. “Got tired of waving those pom-poms around?”
