Um… A little of everything to be honest. It just depends what I feel like that day.
Hmmm-- [She taps her chin.] Well, what do you feel like today?
Then you lose a finger and the respect of anyone who thought you had half a brain cell.
[She shakes her head.] I don't think people should play that game. Let's hope it doesn't catch on around camp. I'd hate to see people end up in the infirmary because of this stupid game.
Five finger fillet? You spread your fingers out and stab a sharp object through the spaces between.
That sounds dangerous. W-What if you miss?
It’s an alright song and all, but hearing it on repeat for the better part of a week? [he shakes his head] Definitely gets tedious.
Well, we'll just have to find you another song to get stuck in your head. [She smiles.] What do you like listening to?
Your mum? [said Quinn, feeling a slight sense of intrusion as she spoke about Kenzie’s mum] Like the Goddess Iris? Well, that’s nice. I don’t remember getting anything from mine. [Quinn shrugged indifferently] But that’s alright really. [she added quickly, not wanting Kenzie to have pity on her]
Well, I'm sure she might have wanted to give you something. [She shrugs and smiles.] She just might not have known what to get you. Some people are very hard to get presents for. [She chuckles.] But then you also get people who are really easy to buy presents for-- Like Braden, for example. [She nods.] One time I bought him Taco Bell for some holiday, I don't remember, but I swear he started crying from excitement. [She smiles.] But, whoa! Rambling. Geez, Kenz, get it together. Sorry 'bout that.
Shadow won’t turn off Thrift Shop. That song is now permanently burned into my brain.
Oh my gods, I love that song. Especially the end when that little kid's like-- [She imitates the voice.] Is that your grandma's coat? [She laughs.]
The fact that so many people have played the knife game makes me lose faith in humanity.
The song is catchy though.
Uh, knife game?
[takes it and twirls it around but it doesn’t move as well as Kenzie’s did] Wow, uh, I’m not doing this right at all am I?
[Shakes her head.] No, that looked great! Did you see how it went through all the colors?
Ah. [Quinn says nodding at Kenzie’s response, not quite believing it] Well, share the good mood, I certainly could use some. I woke up today just feeling — quite the opposite. [Quinn stares at the ribbon handed to her, and giggles; not the mocking sort of giggle but the amused sort] No thanks, Kenzie. I’d look like an absolute idiot. You on the other hand, [Quinn interjected as quickly as possible to avoid Kenzie getting the wrong impression] look pretty graceful, love. [Quinn said, in genuine admiration. It was nice, Quinn thought, to see people happy for no reason at all]
Thank you. [She smiles.] Did you know this was actually a gift from my mom? [She nods, and continues.] Mhm. She gave it to me when I first came to camp. [She rubs her fingers on the ribbon.] It was a long time ago, so it's funny that I still even have it.
[watches her, smiling] Do you have another one?
[Stops and looks over at Holly when she hears her talking. She grins and then extends the ribbon out to Holly.] Here, give it a try.
Yeah. You find someone and I’ll wait.
[She lets out an excited squeal.] Okay, I'll be right back. [She dashes off to find someone and after a few moments she returns with another camper.] Okay, she's got this covered. Let's go! [She grabs Braden's hand and begins pulling him towards the empty seat of the ferris wheel.]
[Quinn stared in mock admiration, an effort to simply humor Kenzie who was obviously high on something] I see and I’m happy to see that you’re — [Quinn gestures at Kenzie and her ribbon] obviously elated, but honey, what’re you on?
[She shakes her head, giving Quinn a slightly confused look.] Oh. I'm not on anything. [Her face perks back up.] I'm just in a really good mood today, and I don't know why. My bet's on this ribbon though. [She holds the ribbon out to Quinn.] Do you want to try it out?
Kenzie? [Quinn asks warily. The other girl didn’t look very — sane — in the moment. No an unusual sight, unfortunately, at Camp as of late.]
[When Kenzie hears her name, she stops spinning. The smile is still on her face when she sees who called out to her.] Quinn! [She frolicked over to the girl, the ribbon still in the hand.] Look! [She twirled the ribbon in front of her. It cycled through the colors of the rainbow.] I forgot I had this. I found it again when I was going through stuff in my cabin. I love it so much.
Yes.
[Shrugs.] Okay. [She points to the ferris wheel.] You wanted to ride, right? I can probably make some camper work this or whatever.
[Mackenzie is in a grassy opening by the cabins. She's spinning around in circles and laughing, thoroughly enjoying herself. She has a long piece of ribbon in her hands and as she twirls around and the ribbon dances on the wind, the ribbon changes colors.]
Definitely. When do you get a break?
Uhmm... [She looks around for a moment and then shrugs.] I don't know. Should I just take one now?
