taliaxalghul:
“Pure enough sentiments but your mother has set you up for failure.”
She eyed the boy. He looked too easy of an opponent. She could knock him out with a right hook. She wouldn’t even need any of her weapons.
“All that will happen is that you will be put six feet under by someone who is actually tougher than you. And then what? Your mother has a dead kid on her hands and you’re in a coffin - if you’re lucky.”
Talia took another sip of her tea.
“And your father? Is he actually as tough as he looks or does he just swear like a trooper?”
“i... don’t agree,” ward kept his eyes on his shoes as he spoke. he hated arguments with a passion and did his best to avoid them at all costs, but he had to say something in this instance. his parents had only done their best by them, even ward could recognise that.
“i think that is a bit extreme, don't you think? who commits a murder because someone swore? i don't think that's a legitimate reason... right?” his father had used the phrase 'people have killed for less' on more than one occasion, maybe this was what he meant.
“my father is -- i'm nothing like him. i'm not like any of my family. i'm... different.”
