Leaving Tumblr
I've decided that this website's not worth it. Too many blogs regarding stuff i disagree with, and too many people making me mad with their reblogs even though they post them with the best of intentions. I'm going to try and work on my fantasy blog for a while, but I've run out of juice with it (figures) and my original main blog didn't help with that either. Sorry, but it's over.
Actually, I'm not sorry. Tumblr can kiss my ass.

I really hate it when people defend certain controversial scenes in Disney movies (eg: “What Makes the Red Man Red” from Peter Pan) with a “it’s ok. it was just a product of the times, everyone did it”. NO. The times don’t excuse prejudices. It was wrong then, and are wrong today. I just wished that people understood that.
People are going to look at how much minority groups hated on Caucasian whites today and will use this exact same excuse. It’s human nature; just because these movies did it, it doesn’t mean people should get into a huff about it. It’s not like in today’s world where just saying the wrong thing out of context can get you thrown into jail…freedom of speech my ass.
Wait, wait wait… when you say “Caucasian whites”, do you mean the specific European groups that are in the Caucus region or the whole of the white race, because if it’s the later, you’ve got your terminology mixed up.
Any “hate” for white people in this day and age is utterly ineffectual. Just by the way culture has been structured, there is no way that the prejudices of non-whites could ever effect white people on a large, effective scale. In some individual cases, yes, but never enough to impact the whole of white culture negatively. Centuries of human degradation caused by genocide, imperialism and power imbalances made sure of that. Plus, prejudice towards white people could never bolster into anything resembling the systems of oppression such as colonization genocide, slavery, segregation, or any other lawful affronts to humanity that have been placed upon non-whites onto white people.
Also, explain what you mean by “human nature” because I’m not getting the context. Do you mean it’s human nature to degrade one another or that racial caricatures are made?
And as for free speech: there is indeed the right to say what you want, but there is equal right for others to contest what you say and for them to express that contention. Don’t forget that.

Nobody ever talks about the Barbary Slave trade, where Africans regularly kidnapped Europeans and sold them inland as slaves on just as big of a scale if not moreso than the Southern United States did. Hell, slavery even goes on there to this day, without any racial discrimination whatsoever.

Yes, it is wrong to be racist, and the jokes in the Peter Pan film were pretty inexcusable, but racism happens whether we like it or not, and while there are many who demand that it be stopped, many of these same people are quick to forget about it when their own individual subculture is not involved. A perfect example would be rap music; racist slurs and trigger words pop up in almost every single rap song I’ve ever heard in passing cars, yet despite these big trigger words they’re still allowed. Why? Because the singers are African American. Apparently it’s acceptable to be called a *insert nasty word here* if you are of that group, yet you get offended when people listen to your song and sing the words and just so happen to be white. I fail to see the logic in that.
Long story short, the point I’m trying to make is that two wrongs don’t make a right. It is important to stop racial discrimination, but we shouldn’t do it at the expense of the stereotypical persecuters (especially when many of them don’t at all). That’s the point I’m trying to make; we are never going to be a peaceful country (referring of course to the US) if we don’t stop shouting and screaming at each other for being different, and we certainly won’t be peaceful if our solution is to eliminate those we think are the problem, because like it or not they are people too, and they have just as much right to live their lives as everyone else…

Wile I wasn’t aware of Barbary slavery (do research into this guys, it’s really interesting), I don’t think it’s still on the same scale as the African slave trade. For one thing, European governments did eventually emancipate the the slaves form the Barbary coast (who actually weren’t all white). And race wasn’t the motivation of Barbary slavery unlike the slave trade of Africans (a lot of eugenics were tied up in this), which had a much wider distribution that spans several continents, not just the Southern United States. Anyway, while something to consider historically, it’s still not a complete equivalence, especially if you’re talking about slavery in the context of America, which Barbary slavery only has minimal impact on.
Folks always want to point the finger at rap music…Alright, you probably don’t get the “logic” because you are not apart of that culture so therefore you have no room to criticize what goes on in the genre. There is a lot of layers to hip-hop/rap culture that are steeped in the black experience that are specific only to the groups within it. I’m not denying that rap can be problematic, but it’s honestly no worse than any other genre of music, all of which have their own issues that need to be worked out. But even so, there are those within the community who, in their own different ways, seek to correct those problematic aspects of it. Also, you’re painting rap with a very broad brush (as most tend to do), so you’re probably not aware of conscious rap that speaks about Afro-diaspora, identity, society, oppression,etc. You’re also forgetting all the alternative and crossover artists within the rap and hip-hop community that include intersectionality.
I really don’t know how racial discrimination is going to end without the persecutors being confronted and the oppressive system that holds them up on a pedestal destroyed. We can’t put an end to discrimination by continuing to enable those who profit from it the most; they must also be held accountable. Being nice isn’t going to dismantle the systems of oppression. Niceness has never been the key to change.
It's true that African slavery spanned several contents, but it started in Europe. It had been a European trend that the 13 colonies, which were a group of colonies formed by a European nation, had established, of which over half disagreed with slavery and did not allow it within their borders well after the Revolutionary War. Yet we still treat all white Americans like they're responsible, even those who grew up in states that weren't even around during the Civil War, let alone the African slave trade. Oh it doesn't matter if there are some people that know better, most don't, and our schools are apparently having a hard time getting it into kids heads that such was the case, because the vast majority of them will still tell you "it's the White Man's fault."
Excuse me? I'm going to take offense to that. It's American culture. It's not just African American, it's not just a minority American culture, it is American culture. If it was just African American culture, it wouldn't be as widespread. Otherwise, for half of the obscenities that's on any one rap song, it would be illegal to play on any radio station or be sold in any stores as technically it's hate speech, sexist, and supports anarchy. If you took the lyrics of any one rap song, put them in any other genre of music, and had anyone else but an African American sing that song, it'd be lucky to even be released let alone be on radio. We see that kind of bs pulled on every other music genre, but not rap. Hmm...I wonder why...oh that's right, I know why; because if anyone did, they'd get the racist card pulled on them whether they meant it or not.
Put it into perspective really quick. You stated that there are groups in the rap and hip-hop community trying to paint a picture about Afro-identity, society, and oppression. Let me tell you something; until you pointed that out, I was not made aware...and to be frank, before hand, I didn't even care to look. In the reality of things, most people don't. It's why half of our world's problems exist, because of people jumping to conclusions without looking into it closer. It's why I hate modern society in general. But in reality, most people don't bother looking for an external message. Most people listen to the music because they like it, they like the beat, they like the rhythm, and that's it. I'm one of the select few that actually pays attention to the lyrics first before I decide I like a song; that's why I don't listen to rap, because getting my ears to bleed from all the "fuck that bitch" and "bust a nut in that cop" and "smoke dat crack" and so on and so forth is not something I'm into, and let's be frank; that's most of the rap genre in the last two decades as a whole, stereotypes aside. But most people don't care. I can guarantee that 99% of the college kids and highschoolers dancing off in clubs to the beat don't care either, and they're the ones you should be worried about. They're the ones who are going to grow up thinking that policemen are assholes, girls are bitches that need to know their place, and that all there is to life is getting as much money as possible by any means necessary, regardless of what race they are.
There is nothing nice about tolerance. As a white, right-wing Catholic from the Pacific Northwest who was raised in a conservative household and happened to like Dinosaurs as a kid just enough to learn about science, evolution, and discover just how verbally violent our world can be, I can guarantee you from experience that there is nothing nice about tolerance. People hate it; it is in our nature to eliminate something different if it is going to be a problem to our status quo, regardless if our status quo was not very beneficial to begin with. It is why a country like ours should not conceivably exist in any fashion whatsoever, because we have so many different people with different status quos expected to get along under the same government that eventually it will come to a head. We don't live in the 14th and 15th centuries anymore; there is no new world we can run to to escape this anymore. Persecution will happen, on either side, and eventually it will get to the point where one side will try to violently one-up the other, until it either assimilates or goes away permanently, as is our nature. The only non-violent solution is tolerance; tolerance and compromise. And not compromise like "You get to say yes to this issue, but I get to say yes to this other one," no no. Compromise in a way that neither side is completely satisfied; where at first glance it will never seem like it will work but eventually people can get used to it and thus benefits both. Such compromise can only be done when spearheaded by a third, unbiased party with no immediate opinion on either side of the argument. Every first world problem that we currently have can be solved this way and be out of our hair with ease; everything from racism to prejudice and oppression, to gay marriages and transgender, and even whether or not an airport can put up a Christmas Tree and not have to worry about getting sued. The fact that we don't do this infuriates me, because every single problem that we cry havoc about on the news is pointless...pointless...in comparison to the bigger picture. In due time, we will eventually run out of the funds, oil, energy, and resources to be able to be considered a first world nation, and everything will fall apart. By then, all of this; even this text that I'm putting up; will no longer matter. No one will care about whether or not so-and-so issue is legal or so-and-so action is offensive. We will be too busy trying to survive off of what is left to even notice.
And I apologize for that long winded last paragraph, but that is essentially my view on all of this. You can try to convince me otherwise all you want, but I honestly don't care. In the end, our argument is a first world problem spearheaded by people who refuse to see the big picture and won't stop until they are satisfied and their opposition eliminated. Such is our nature, such is our hubris, such is our demise.

Some people would say he drowned, except that he was proven to be a more than capable swimmer and that he was physically fit and smart enough to know when he had swum too far. Foul play, shark attack, maybe even faking his own death can all be factors to explain his disappearance, but like many other strange things that have happened in our past and still happen to this day...we probably will never really know the actual answer.

I know people don't like this film, but I think this is the one film where Jim Carrey's tolerable for me. I love this movie, and I love Carrey's work with it. Granted, there's a lot in the film that's unacceptable ("Hello Martha," anyone?), but most of it is pretty good. I just consider it an immature adult's way of telling the story of the Grinch, and it does that well.
