Is almond milk really good for us? It sure is!
Almond milk has powerful antioxidants which help inhibit the growth of free radicals and help to support a strong immune system, Almond milk has many benefits, which include nutrients such as; protein, fibre, vitamin E (making it great for our skin. yes!), magnesium, selenium, manganese, zinc, potassium, iron, phosphorus, tryptophan and calcium. Almond milk also has no cholesterol and is often used to lower the blood sugar levels in the body.
I put it in my coffee each morning and use it as a replacement for milk in shakes and if you love a nutty flavoured coffee or shake then you will enjoy almond milk as much as I do.
FUN FACT: Almond milk does not require any refrigeration making it great for those fun road trips and you can also make your own :) Below is a recipe to make your very own almond milk.
R E C I P E
Step 1: Soak one cup of raw almonds in water overnight. Leave a little more water as they will swell.
Step 2: Remove the almonds from the water. Remove the skin off the almonds.
Step 3: Blend almonds with two cups of water until mixture is creamy.
Step 4: Strain mixture through a fine strainer to separate the pulp. Leave in the fridge overnight and then your ready to drink!
NOTE: The best thing is you don't have to waste any of the pulp or almond skins as they can be dry roasted to use as almond flour. They can also be put into a cloth to use as a nice body scrub. Your welcome!
