So I was just rereading the well of Ascension, and I realised that every person speaking in Elend's assembly is male and it refers to them collectively as assemblymen. Just wondering if anyone has any answers or ideas on this. Do you think this is an oversight in writing or deliberate? Like is Elend's government all male? Does that mean women don't get voting rights under Elend's rule? It's just a devastating realisation to me that like for all his idealism and freeing the skaa somehow he hasn't given women basic rights? Even when he respects Vin so much? I can kind of get that with nobility and male inheritance etc they have that ingrained, but the skaa were all slaves so like there was no culture of 'women are pretty and do nothing'. And like elend grew up being told skaa weren't even really proper humans, and can overcome/ see through that but somehow he thought women couldnt govern?
