Recorded live at New York City's legendary Fillmore East during the New Year's Eve 1969 and New Year's Day 1970 shows, the album captured Hendrix alongside bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles at the peak of their powers.

Blending hard rock, funk, soul, blues, and extended improvisation, Band of Gypsys showcased a bold new direction for Hendrix. Tracks like “Machine Gun” remain some of the most powerful and groundbreaking performances ever committed to tape.

The album was the last Hendrix release approved during his lifetime and stands today as one of the most influential live albums in rock history. ~ Monsters of Rock
