strong day for weird egolifting choices on r/kettlebell. mixed grip/mixed weight overhead presses, two bells in one hand, and a swing with a resistance band (??)
can someone start a hyrox where you don't have to run
when you’ve been doing a group workout for insane people for like two years normal group workouts don’t quite hit right
the workout for insane people was usually structured like:
a full 50 minutes of high intensity circuit work, no rest periods other than switching stations or sometimes when the coach would explain the second block of exercises halfway through.
no warm up built in, you were supposed to do that on your own beforehand but most people didn't
the coach wouldn't correct your form ever unless you asked (yes there were some atrocious kettlebell swings and rowing going on)
no ice breakers or chatting, no one told you you did a good job or high fived, everyone left without talking after putting the equipment away (very weird but i'm kind of antisocial so i was happy with it. i had to be a regular for like a year before anyone would chat with me lmao)
no cool down or stretching, do that on your own
this workout actually ruled though, it was always programmed in a smart way where it was hard but not too hard, and you could always modify things. knowing i wouldn't find one this good again was like one of the few things i knew i'd miss about moving away from that area. also everyone was intimidatingly good (like retired pro athletes) and put a lot of effort into their workouts which was a good motivator but now makes me feel almost like i'm trying too hard in some other workout classes? whatever, i'll get over it

what is happening on r/kettlebell
i didn't work out for two weeks and now workouts are giving me a massive endorphin dump. it's nice while it lasts
don’t we have a urinal code for cardio machines
that one really annoyingly loud trainer who always takes up too much space was having his clients hold kettlebells in the worst racked position i've ever seen for their front lunges
jokes on me tho, i think when i move i’m going to end up getting a membership at a powerlifting gym
saturday gym is so annoying actually everyone really said managers are off duty let’s all do olympic lifts
“no one’s paying attention to what you do at the gym” wrong i am the gym judger and i am noticing when you take 2 minutes rest before standing right in front of the rack to do 5 hammer curls. good thing you’ve got like 2 liters of water with you bro, don’t want to get dehydrated with all that hard work
