I intend to do some replies here and on @fledercanons soon but I made some adopts that are for sale on my ko-fi if anyone's interested :)
@thefxnnycne (continued):
Well, he WAS about to go back to his spot, anyway.
Jax had just turned and took two steps away from Pomni when they both looked Kettle’s way- Jax’s pupils shrank, and Pomni’s brows fell sadly. But the question he asked was so innocent to the jester, apparently, that she smiled and walked up to the kitten.
She put a red-gloved hand on his fuzzy shoulder. “Well, I’m still kinda new here, like you, and I don’t know where to find any markers,” she told him. The her pinwheel-like eyes shot to the rabbit standing before them, wondering if he should pretend to just… wander away.
“But I think I know someone who does.”
Jax froze, his mouth vanishing, and his shoulders lifted; what a dick move! He’d never even talked to this kid, and… wait, where was he supposed to find markers?
He gave Pomni a look that said something to the effect of ‘you are SO paying for this’, but, though he was sure she saw and identified it, she just blinked, still smiling, but now at it. It had just grown a bit wider.
His big eyes relaxed into a more classic position- half-lidded, if you will- and his usual smile came upon his face. But one of his brows became wiry as they knit, suggesting… no, confirming… his anxiety and anger.
He’d keep his cool. He would for the kid. But not for anyone else.
Yellow hands reached Jax’s hips, and, with a prickling neck, where he knew short fur was standing on end, and he waved Kettle over. “Sure, we can take a look around. Thanks, Pomni.”
“Anytime. Now. I gotta go- I told Gangle I’d give her some sketch ideas. See ya!”
And off she went.
Jax grumbled under his breath, straightened up tall, and grinned down at the boy. “Guess I’ve never met ya before, kid. I’m Jax.” He put a hand to his chest before letting it drop back to his hip. “What’s your name?”
Ears twitched and perked attentively at Pomni's gentle redirection, curiosity transitioning quickly to eagerness as he looked toward the tall rabbit. Rather... Upward, as he came closer, his neck craning to see upward at Jax's towering ears. They reminded Kettle of something, he thought — Yes, a big chocolate treat he had once gotten on Easter. Its ears were big and hollow, and made of a sweet chocolate.
Kettle wondered if Jax, too, was made of some sort of candy. Could chocolate be purple? Could he be some sort of delicious gummy candy? No, of course not. That would be silly!
"My name is Kettle!" The tiny feline answered with little other hesitation, tail tip wiggling to and fro as he spoke. "Kettle Kitten. My Mama and my Daddy and me came here a little whiles'ago I guess. I need markers to make my big project indes...indescripe-able! That's what Mama says when something is really really good."
Upon his explanation, the child puffed his chest proudly, his paws rested on his tummy where a depiction of candied kettle corn stayed.
"Do you hop around like a bunny does?" He asked in follow-up. "And do you like carrots? An' how did you get so tall?"
Hey y'all, just as a heads up regarding my thread replies;;
For the moment it's a lot more convenient and doable for me to start a new post copy/pasting the last reply and following with my own than it is to pull out my laptop and format threads properly. I apologize if this brings any inconvenience to my partners!! Please feel free to DM me if it makes it more difficult for you to write with me ;w; thank you for understanding; here's a sticker design sneak peek as reward for your patience, and remember to check out my ko-fi for more updates regarding art stuff!

Giving him his dumbass mom
@thefxnnycne (cont.)
She was going be the next to leave.
Jax knew how people acted before they abstracted. He did now, that was. He knew all too well. It wasn't always the way they acted, either.
Sometimes it was their expressions, or the way they worded certain subjects. Or their eyes. The last time he'd seen-
No. No, he wouldn't think of him. Not either of them.
Irritable tension swirled in the lanky rabbit's belly; absently, maybe in an attempt to distract himself, Jax reached up and scratched a bit of the fur on his cheek. As said... he knew what was coming. And it was only a matter of time.
However, the barely-audible sound of a few building blocks clinking together made his sharp ears- one of them, rather- twitch and angle backwards. The kid must've been... playing.
Trying to feel better after his mom sent him away.
He sighed, taking his hands off his thighs and getting to his feet. He was headed to his room to nap for a while, mostly so he could stop feeling on-edge. But he'd only taken a few steps into the hall of bedrooms before he peered back over his shoulder.
A kid couldn't abstract... could they? If knowing she was gone wasn't enough, he might see it happen...
Uncomfortable and somewhat startled by the unfamiliar feeling that made him turn around and stroll back in, he plastered his typical grin onto his face without a second thought.
"Hey, ah- Jax?" Pomni called from near the stage, "can... you come here? Like, for just a second?"
"Yeah, whatever, sure. What?”
She whispered to him about Marigold, how she didn't look very stable.
"Is she... is she gonna abstract, too?"
Hearing that word again stung. He recoiled, tightening his brows. "Wh-? Uh, how am I supposed to know? Ask Caine or something. I don't get why you'd ask me."
Pomni frowned. "Because you've been here longer..." She trailed off. He was already walking away, the fur on his shoulders slightly spiky.
He returned to his original spot and occasionally glanced in Marigold's direction, then Kettle's. Foreboding was a shitty feeling.
As the child seemed to have finished his little project, he looked over his work in a pose reminiscent of one he had seen Daddy do — Up tall, chin up, and paws on his hips. What a nice looking grave it was! Built solely of blocks and toys, all on his own. There were some laid out on the floor to look just like the dirt of the grave, with lots of nice felt flowers with smiley faces on top. A bouquet of wonder for a wonderful father, surely.
The grave itself was an oversized lego construction with rounded edges. Kettle looked over it admiringly, but his smile faded as he scrunched his nose. Hmm... Something was definitely missing.
He thought for a moment with a paw to his chin, considering things deeply, before his ear gave a twitch, and he turned toward Jax and Pomni in the distance. His eyes lit up, and he began bounding toward the two, waving excitedly. "Hey!! Do you haff markers? I need markers." He addressed both of them rather urgently.
@apparitionsofbaddecisions
"Caine!" Kettle's squeaky call sounded from behind the flap of a circus tent. Then again, as the kitten looked beneath an oversized sand castle bucket. "Caaaine!" He called, whiskers twitching excitedly.
Upon seeing the set of chompers appear, the child let out a trill of utter delight. "Caine! Do you wanna play with me?" He asked, pupils wide. "We can do a adventure!"
It seemed, most times now, that Kettle was the only one so thrilled to meet up with the ringmaster in effort for a grand mission. Because he was a child, most would guess — He just wanted a playmate, and Caine certainly seemed high-spirited enough to play.

Live footage of me realizing we may have a parasitic snail problem in our tank
So I recently bought a few rolls of simple stickers for handing out to kids at work. Just some simple little smileys and heart stickers with patterns on them. Kids adore it.
So I brought in the stickers today and clocked out at the end of my shift, went outside to wait for my ride, and saw a kid starting to go in with her mom. I offered a sticker, she happily ran over to pick her favorite, pointed to a heart (they were all hearts), and said "I drawed a heart yesterday!!!!"
I said, "Yeah? That's awesome. What color was it?"
She goes, "Ummmm. Yellow and orange."
So I tell her that's really cool and we part ways, I tell her to be good, and mere minutes later, I hear her VERY excited voice as she talks to her friends in a nearby car,
"THEY GOT FREE STICKERS YOU GOTTA COME HAVE ONE"
so she brings over two other older kids and I offer them stickers too, and they're all just so delighted 😭❤️ I love kids. I'm never having any, but god i love them.
