Roku, my most recent foster dog, is a long haired applehead chihuahua who was surrendered at five years old by the only family he ever knew.

Not surprisingly, he is seriously traumatized. The first two days, he hid in his crate and screeched at the top of his lungs if I even went near him.

After two weeks, he’s still not keen on me, and tries to bite me when I pet him. No way can I pick him up.

He barks incessantly at Boy19, mainly because the kid leaps down the stairs three at a time, flings open doors, and generally scares the little bugger.

But Jim, on the other hand, can do no wrong. Not only does Roku exclusively sit in Jim’s lap, he even allows Jim to pick him up. Whenever Jim leaves the house, Roku sits by the door and pines for his beloved daddy to return.

Jim is worried that no one will adopt Roku, but I’m pretty sure people won’t listen when I explain all of his chihuahua behaviors and will just want him because he looks so cute.

I’m more worried that he will keep getting returned.
