On Wednesday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer Robert Turner crashed his motorcycle on Indiana’s I-70 while escorting President Donald Trump to Air Force One. Worried about Turner, who was rushed to the hospital, President Trump said he would not leave until he had the opportunity to speak with the officer to check on him and thank him for his service, reports Blue Lives Matter.
In a video clip posted to the official IMPD Facebook page, Officer Turner is seen on a stretcher, in a neck brace, speaking to the president via phone.
“On behalf of the IMPD, we would like to take an opportunity to thank President Donald J. Trump for his thoughtful act in delaying his departure in Air Force One until he was assured that the officer injured in the motorcade accident was ok,” reads a IMPD Facebook post. “Calls were made by his staff to Chief Bryan Roach checking on Cycle Officer Turner. President Trump even took the time to speak with Officer Turner after the accident, to check on him,” the post continues. “Thank you for your compassion, concern, and leadership Mr. President!”
President Trump has made his support for our police officers crystal clear, and this latest act only underscores his respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect us all.
I love Trump
