Writing our fic like "I hope these 'deeper' conversations don't feel unnatural between Kazui and Yuno" and then the timeline drops That.
Kazui and Yuno both get stuck being someone they aren't via the perceptions of others. They are expected to play a "role," whether that role be an accessory/pleasure-giver, or a cop (arguably, both apply to both of them when we consider their own self-policing). They slip into society saying nothing of their true selves, while their stray soul roams the world like an unwanted cat.
