Time. Iām obsessed with it. How Iām spending it. How other people spend it. how to spend it better. Iām obsessed with time.
The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.
Mary Oliver
The hardest part is getting started.
Force yourself to start. The rest is kind of easy.
The aim of art is insight, understanding of the essential life of feeling
ā¦broaden your influences, specifically outside of the industry. What are your interests? How do you tap into those and let them manifest in your work over time?ā

Superpowers
What is your Superpower? Donāt have one? You definitely do. Search for it. Cultivate it. Care for it. Watch it grow.
Truth is not in what happens but in what it tells us about who we are.

You will never get any more out of life than you expect.

How alive the city is, how alive, how alive, how alive. Each of those windows has someone behind it, each of these streets is a current under my feet. A network of people, a living field ā each grass a soul, each grass alive. So let us give thanks after all, and be glad, and rejoice. To be in life with so many people!
Alfred Kazin
What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends on what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. What we take to be true is our reality

It feels more important than ever to celebrate new music. If art is what fights tragedy, if art is what fights the void, if art is what helps us make sense of violence and random acts of cowardice and killing, then tonightās important.

I remember being in history class learning about early human history and our penchant for mindless massacres, wars, etc - and thinking that it must have sucked to be alive then... that humans werenāt evolved yet and just plain āol stupid. Ā If thereās even a world with humans in it in a few hundred years (climate change), I feel like kids will be in their holographic history classes thinking the same thing about us when they look back at the callous way we treated each other. Just a random thought.Ā
The mass media entertainment business is located mainly in Los Angeles, a city that comprises over 48 percent Latinos. Furthermore, 17 percent of the Uni...
I feel like it is so important for people (esp. kids) to see positive and wide-ranging representations of people who look like them in movies & on television. Luckily I was surrounded by positive influences growing up, but its doubly important for kids without a sound home structure to see that they can rise above and be more than their environment. Media at its best inspires and can open up a whole new world of possibilities for you. Hopefully we not only start to get more Hispanics in front of the camera, but behind it as wellā¦so they can begin to tell stories that more fully represent the America we all see.
This recent study found that Latinos represent less than 2% of the talent you see in Television and Movies. To make matters worse, often times the 2% of Latinos you see on TV or in a movie are really only their as propsā¦mostly reaffirming negative stereotypes. And a lot of times the Latino actors you do see doing powerful things in media reach success after dropping their āHispanicā sounding last names in favor of something more āAmericanā (like Oscar Isaac or Rita Hayworth). Which sucks.
Hope things change, but in the meantime Iām going to try to find Latinos doing powerful things in media and show them some love over the coming weeks.
And now go, and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here. Make good art.
Neil Gaiman
So I too shall be safe in taking for the aim of my existence a conscious striving for the universal development of everything existent. I should be the unhappiest of mortals if I could not find a purpose for my life, and a purpose at once universal and useful⦠Wherefore henceforth all my life must be a constant, active striving for that one purpose.
Leo Tolstoy
