Blog Hop Interview... The great collage artist 'Peter Campbell' (New Zealand) recently asked me to take part in a World Wide Blog Hop by answering four questions about my work and inviting three other artists to do the same. They then answer the same questions on their blogs the following Monday (28th July 2014). Here's my selection of talented artists: Emidio Bernardone (Italy) Andrei Cojocaru (France) Jordan Clark (America) What am I working on? My main job is running my own graphic design studio, so recently I have been wrapped up with that. Regarding the collage art side of things, I have been experimenting with collage and paint at a more larger scale (than normal), so hopefully I will be able to show the world some results when ready. How does my work differ from others of its genre? It's not very often I view the work of other collage artists, I try and keep away from it. But I think one of the main differences with my work compared to others, is I tend to focus a lot more on trying to portray a message or tell a story in someway. Why do I create what I do? I personally think it's amazing you can take something from the past (in this case old images/cuttings) and create something completely new, which can portray a totally different meaning to the original. How does your creating process work? I describe my creative process as being 'very simple', I search through lots of retro magazines (particular from the 1950s and 1960s) for images that look interesting and work well together, sometimes this can takes minutes, other times can take hours. From there the cutting and glueing takes place, which usually continues until I'm happy with the end result, that's pretty much it! It's a totally different story if I'm working on commissioned peice.
