Found this little solo buddy on the north side of the shop when cleaning debris for the dump. I noticed it on a leaf and wondered what it was. Looking it up later, I learned it's a firefly!
I didn't know we had them in Oregon. I found this article Pacific Northwest fireflies: Myth or reality that explains that we do, but they don't flash. This one is a dark (diurnal) species. It's rare, if any, for flashing fireflies to be in Oregon. But it won't stop me from searching now.
Found this single Moth Mullein plant on the east path leading to the pond. Such a cute little plant, I wish I'd seen it in bloom.

The critter was at this about 2 minutes before it figured out how to fit the pine needle inside the tiny hole. #GoldMedal, bug!

Spotted near the pond: Largeleaf avens, a native, perennial wildflower.
Spotted this nest about a month ago and I heard babies but couldn't figure out what species. I just saw the parents feeding the babies and it's a Chestnut-backed Chickadee family. 🖤🐦
