FINALLY DONE WITH THIS!!! 😭 The latest update for my interactive OC blog, @ouroboros-online, which I’ve been using as an excuse to practise sequential work. I’m still so new to comics and this is probably the third time I’ve ever used screentones in my life, but I’m so happy with how it came out! 🥹💕

This strip is set in the OC sandbox universe, Cruise Ship Hell: Anchors Aweigh!, which is free to join if you’d like to play dolls too! :D

I initially drafted this comic out in November 2025, which set the foundations for the panellig:

I wanted to combine a conventional comic format with the SNS / mobile-friendly long-scroll of webtoons, so I ended up going with square pages. My thought was that they’d be easier to break up, with the page flow being seamless. What I didn’t realise was that a 1:1 aspect ratio would be torturous for me to lay out, since I pretty much only read comics cut into rectangular pages—I had nothing to reference, so I really had to squeeze my brain to make it work [laughcry]

I’m not sure if no gutters was the right choice, either (especially since the practise-pages I had finished since drafting this one had more conventional spacing between panels), but by the time I got to finishing this strip I didn’t want to make the effort to redo the layout to accommodate for gutters, so I left it as-is… ^_T

Anyway, on to my second draft from January 2026! Notice the placeholder image for the cocktails and how I had absolutely no idea how I wanted to finish the second page so I just left it to be the-eve-of-my-deadline (26th of April) me’s problem [laughcry x2]:

The final ended up being mostly true to the second draft, but I changed the layout of page two slightly, and then the composition of panel five on page three. How do you feel about the changes from first draft to second draft to final? Did I make the right choices? LOL

The last page especially was a nightmare to revise from the first draft; the way I originally had it, I had no idea how I wanted to compose the individual panels!! TT I feel like I spent three days on that alone!! But I think it ended up nice, as weird as it is to style the unmasked Ouroboros’s dialogue as black text on white background. I’m very attached to their signature yellow / white text on black background—yes, I was exposed to Deadpool having a unique dialogue bubble in middle school and decided I wanted my favourite OC to have one too—but it just wouldn’t work for this comic ahaha.

BUT EEE, I’M GLAD/// ;u; OC asks genuinely make my day, so please feel free to send as many Qs as you’d like!

The IPA pronunciation of their names are /ɯ.meˈta.ɾoː ˈsa.no ˈlet.t͡ʃe/ (/ˈta.ɾoː/・タロウ for short) and /ɹeɪs ˈkɔɾ.dɪs/ respectively. You can listen to what those sound like here! Alternatively, Tarou’s name can be spelled out phonetically in Japanese, as he’s hafu: ウメタロウ・サノ・レッチェ. (“Lecce” is Italian, but its pronunciation translates easily to JP.)

Also I’m laughing, I’m so glad you find humour in the busted ways in which I describe my OCs as well x’D Tarou’s messy relationships with sex, gender, and his own body are probably my favourite things about him. I wrote here about how—in meta—I consider him to be a transfem butch, but if pressed for a label himself, he’d settle for “agender,” because he doesn’t feel like he’s allowed to be a woman.

He really does love being a thirst trap, though 🤦 He was raised to understand that looks are power, attraction is power, sex is power, etc, so when he carries himself with that aloof, leather-clad badboy energy and people fold for it, it is gratifying. It’s finding people’s weak points and exploiting them so he stays in control of the dynamic. It’s getting people to submit and let him call the shots, getting them to know their place and let him make the first move.

He’s aware that if he was truly maximising his potential, he’d broadcast himself as vers / switch, but he can’t stand the thought of inviting people to be have their way with him and his body unless he has no other choice. He’s had enough of that during Family events, thank you very much! Establishing himself as a dominant figure who won’t tolerate bratting or presumption lets him keep everyone an an arm’s length—exactly where he wants them. The longer he can go without having to take his clothes off, the better.

Anyway, yes, you may give them some juice! 😤 Thank you for the lovely ask!

Before and after shots of this comic page I made for Xero’s blog! Comics are still an enigma to me and take a long time to make; this page took two days 🥹 But with enough practise, I hope I’ll get faster!

Asada Nemui’s works were at the forefront of my mind as I drew this. I admire her paneling, the sketchiness of her lineart (it’s clean, but doesn’t try to be perfect), and her use of value—aside from the white of the paper and black of the ink, she only uses one grey tone. Her compositions make every panel visually interesting without being overworked. I was in awe of how efficient her process seemed to be! As someone who struggles to spend over a day on any given art piece, I wanted to see if I could incorporate some of her time-saving techniques into my own work.

(Of course, I don’t actually know if saving time is her priority, because I haven’t looked up interviews, but reading her doujin again was enlightening. I thought, “If I made comics like this, maybe comics wouldn’t be so hard!” I highly recommend Sleeping Dead for the art :D The deeply aroace dynamic between the MCs was also a treat—this BL has one of the most awkward and unsexy sex scenes I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading and as a bad sex enthusiast I loved every bit LOL.)

I guess while I’m at it, some personal updates:

A combo of fibromyalgia, unmedicated ADHD (I stopped being able to tolerate Adderall TT), and surprise Bipolar Disorder have put me in the void for years. Aside from the chronic pain, my brain was like a sieve; there were many days where I couldn’t even hold a thought in my head to save my life… It was very frustrating and scary, and I hated not being able to do anything but the most basic self-care for weeks on end. At the doctor’s this week, I found out I might even experience near-daily migraines, but we’re still looking into it [laughcry]

But that’s the good part! I’ve finally been able to start seeing doctors more. I finally found a good psychiatrist that is covered by my busted state insurance, and I’m trying Vyvanse now :’) It was a whole rigmarole to get my RX filled, but now that I’ve tried it for a few days I think it’s working (and without any of the horrible side-effects I experienced on Adderall, Concerta, or Strattera). I’m really hopeful this will be a good med long-term cuz not being able to function as my responsibilities piled up, as my apartment became messier and messier, as my health got worse and worse, has been overwhelming 🫠 I’m eternally grateful to everyone who has been patient about my condition—especially commissioners. 🙇

Anyway, yeah! That’s where I’m at. Lots of doctor appointments and new med trials lined up. Very exciting. I really hope it will help with my productivity >_< And I hope whoever’s reading this is doing well! :D <3
