phil's emotional distance caused a lot of pain for foolish as he was growing up under his care. foolish is a very quiet kid but desperate for love, and it was to the point foolish felt like he needed to squeeze his hands around phil's neck to get the man to look at him. whether or not he actually tried is anybody's guess.

hi my miniscule following count on tumblr who will largely not care, naive!foolish time:

my interpretation of phil The Character is very much mostly derived from his c! character. as a result i don't see him as a good caretaker---he was a largely absent father and negligent towards the struggles of his sonboy. i maintain that these flaws are a core part of his character. this emotional distance passes over to his dynamic with the child naive!foolish, who wasn't even related to him by blood. as a result, they are not as close as some people seem to think they are. as a result, this is the root of a lot of insecurities and struggles naive!foolish has growing up. i won't stop people who want to interpret their dynamic differently, and i am always SO amazed people love my work so much, but i wanted to clarify.
