My piece for Nico's Meatball Head show at Meltdown.
Check it out! This is the first preview of the show that everyone at Titmouse has been working on since Motorcity!
We’ve got about 75% of the former Motorcity crew working on this, everything from animators to BG painters. The main character has the same voice as Mike Chilton as well.
I know it’s not Motorcity, but it may be the closest thing we get for a while.
It’s going to be the first animated show made exclusively for Netflix, which is an exciting piece of history to be a part of… I hope you guys like it!
SNAILCITY
It’s that thing that I’ve been animating on! Gotta love the Turbs. Thanks POM for posting this.
Too many talented people are making this show making it look too damn good.
I spent the last year working on this, the crew is tits!!!!
I had the pleasure of boarding a couple of episodes of this before Randy started up again. Such a talented and fun crew! Looks AMAZING, guys!!!
Here’s the 2nd of 3 clips of the animatic stages of the “Sorcerer in Love” episode of 9th Grade Ninja! I’ll post the 3rd clip tomorrow :)
This sequence storyboarded by the amazing Kim Arndt, with board revisions by the episode’s director Joshua Taback! Also this episode edited by me. :)
And of course, Randy’s made by all these awesome people and is © Disney.
More *hearts* for Neeeks.
The “Sorcerer in Love” episode of 9th Grade Ninja is one of my favorites, and it finally aired last weekend! Here’s the 1st of 3 clips I’m posting of the animatic stage of the episode.
This sequence storyboarded by the amazing Kim Arndt, with board revisions by the episode’s director Joshua Taback! Also this episode edited by me. :)
And of course, Randy’s made by all these awesome people and is © Disney.
Been MIA from Tumblr for waaaay too long. Thanks for picking up the slack, Nico!
No one ever expects the Spinach Inquisition
YAY!
This is still one of my favorite songs we wrote.
Thanks for posting!
Oh, wow! Boarded this a billion years ago. I think I listened to that song non stop for a week while doing it too!
A W E S O M E
Still psyched that we get to do a season 2!
I can say that, right? Andrew Caldwell and the fb page spilled the beans already.
Finally! Team Randy revving up.
Did you see mr.warbuton's shout-out to you?
Did you mean his KND storyboard post? Very cool walk down memory lane! Heads up, KND fans - season one board samples. Thanks, Tom!
Original board for "Evil Spirit Week" featuring Howard's sultry stylings. Not sure if this was Andrew ad-libbing or direction from the head shoobs, but unfortunately it got cut for time. Luckily, version one animatics exist.
i feel like randy would be a cat person
How could I have not known about the existence of Atomcat?! Glaring oversight thankfully rectified by Mr. Matches.
This is our next iTunes short after Owl.
PINCHED by Dave Vandervoort
Love this short! Absolutely killer stuff by everyone involved and Dave's been too talented for words since I first saw his work on Downtown.
i love Randy! he's SO cool! i wish i had a friend like him in real life. so if it's okay asking? who came up with randy designed? and what's it like working with other storyboard artist? is it hard work? fun?
Gah! I just realized this ask has been sitting in my inbox. Sorry Anon, deadline week!
While Jhonen Vasquez did some of the preliminary concepts and monster designs, most of the characters you see on screen are courtesy of Junpei Takayama. Just like boards though, what you see on screen is due to the hard work of a bunch of people... concept, cleanup, rotations, color. Then you have other artists who just deal with props and backgrounds and our art director and fellow cat lover, Otto Tang, heading it up. There's actually a few Randy designers on tumblr and they could probably answer this stuff waaay better than I could.
Storyboarding is both fun and a lot of work. I usually advise anyone thinking of doing boards that they really LOVE boarding because you're going to be putting a lot of hours into it. And it'll be impossible to watch a movie normally anymore because you'll be over analyzing everything. Or that could just be me because I overanalyze everything...
If you get a good crew to work with, you're in for a good time. On Randy, we had a big room with a bullpen type setup so you could always turn around and chat with the other seven guys in the room. Or just call out random nonsense and watch the stupid enfold. A lot of stupid. A lot of geek. A lot of raunchy. Then more stupid. Randy and Howard levels of stupid.
