I had the privilege of assisting in interviewing Senator John Lewis. He talked of Dr. King, Bloody Sunday, & the many things the SCLC did in the civil rights movement. For those of us that are old enough to remember the stories and lessons of those who paved the way for us in democracy, teach...pass on those stories & that wisdom. I don't try to make political comments... but I have to say that in this new year, once again the old winds of disdain, discrimination, prejudice, & decisiveness has blown in & once again are dividing us. The current administration wants us to believe that we need to change everything...well we do. Former President Obama campaigned with the slogan, WE CAN. It was meant as a slogan to rally around the thoughts of changing our communities, our country, our world... feels like it should be a battle cry. It's obvious that this administration (or certain people in this administration) have no concern for bringing peace, unity, & building economic influence to help those who need it...so it is really up to US!!! WE CAN help build our communities, create systems, negotiate and WORK TOGETHER to build and support what they won't. We need to ignore the tweets and comments...look past the games! Haiti is still recovering from the earthquake 8 years ago today...no matter what negative comments have been made, they survive, work, and live in conditions less than us. If they can survive, so can we. Don't let the negative rhetoric fool u for WE CAN...now, let's get to work!!
