Kaigaku vs Zenitsu: Mutual Crush
- No doubt the tension between the two is taken to a whole other level when they realize they’ve both set their eyes on the same person. Lightning practically shoots through the air when they meet each other’s gaze in the presence of their shared romantic interest.
- Kaigaku’s merciless lashings towards Zenitsu would only increase in violence, but to his surprise and immense irritation, the latter would stubbornly stand his ground and dig his feet in to fight for their crush’s right to choose who deserves to be with them. (Perhaps it is this selfless focus on someone other than himself that gives Zenitsu the strength to push back against his rival when he’d otherwise accept blatant defeat.)
- Their feuding would likely spark an intensity in their attempts to court their crush in hopes to win their favor before the other. It may very well end up overwhelming the poor subject with how frantic and hasty they’re getting whisked around between the two!
- If they were to fall in love with Kaigaku, Zenitsu would naturally be a bit crestfallen, but he wouldn’t fight it. He had generally believed they would never pick him anyways, but he still can’t deny his disappointment that someone as wonderful as them would choose to be with someone as terrible as Kaigaku. He’ll accept their decision, but he’ll still be wary of him hurting them.
- If they were to fall in love with Zenitsu, Kaigaku would be bewildered. His fury would increase two-fold, but he would continue to bottle it inside and lash out at his rival whenever they came into contact. After his loss, Kaigaku would likely separate himself far from the two of them, throwing himself into wholly achieving his original goal of becoming a pillar of the Demon Slayers.
- If they were to pick both...this would spell disaster. Having to share what he believes should only be his--especially someone he believes to be so far below him as Zenitsu--would have Kaigaku constantly in a state of agitation. His deep-rooted insecurities already lie with feeling recognized, so if he feels he’s somehow not good enough for his partner on his own, he’ll never be able to feel at peace with the relationship.
And with Kaigaku always around to assert his dominance and push him away, Zenitsu would never be able to feel at ease enough to properly express any of his affections with his partner, leaving him to feel overall suppressed and neglected. Zenitsu already believes himself to not be anyone of meaningful worth so without the proper nurturing and encouragement he needs from a caring partner, he’ll continue to be trapped in that state of thought and never get the chance to grow beyond his weaker self.
- All in all, any time these two are pitted together it’s bound to be intense! Sparks are sure to fly as they go head to head to win their beloved’s affections, so be sure to stand far enough back to avoid getting zapped!
